Originality:

This album, in one word, has surprised me. As an avid listener of music I always keep myself updated with the latest music releases in all genres and ASHIQ BANAYA AAPNE has been a complete winner.

Well, the journey started with the trailers on television which kind of appealed to me and before I could realize I was gifted the cd of this wonderful album. Since then no other cd has reportedly been seen in my cd-man. From the first to the last track, each song is a treat to your ears.

The movie written and directed by Aaditya Datt has a set of wonderful compositions by guess who, Himesh Reshammiya. For me, Reshammiya has been one of the worst music composers of the industry. Although films like Tere Naam did fetch him awards but frankly speaking he didn’t deserve it. The music was pretty superfluous and run-of-the-mill.

In this movie he has given the music a very soulful touch with not just the tunes but also his voice!! Yes ladies and gentlemen, this album was also a surprise for me because of the singing histrionics of Reshammiya being an integral element of it. But his job has fortunately not been as disastrous and irritating as Anu Malik’s in any of his films. Rather the style he has adopted has really suited the songs and given them that sufi feel. The ultimate co-incidence of this movie is its actor Emraan Hashmi, whose past few films’ music has been a must buy………whether it was Murder or Zeher

Let me now start with the tracks whose lyrics have been penned by Sameer- a good effort by him after a very long time. The songs are in no-random order- they are in my order of choice=>

“aapki kashish”:- sung by Reshammiya has an unbeatable hummable quality to it. You can’t help but keep listening to it again and again. It clearly brings out the feelings of a desperate lover. The song retains its melody despite the usage of drums and other strong musical instruments. The lyrics coupled with the tune are a mesmerizing experience that lingers on in your soul. It also has a remix version that is pretty pacy and oh1 so groovy.

“aashiq banaya aapne”:- again rendered by Reshammiya is a class apart. Its soft, its sufi, its melodious, its passionate, its sublime, it can be categorized as one of the best title tracks of the decade. Shreya Ghoshal’s honey-sweet voice accompanying the male lead is pleasant. The remix is nice and compliments the original version well.

“mar java”:- now this one’s another surprise. None other than our Indian Idol Abhijeet Sawant accompanies Sunidhi Chauhan. Sung well, the song has a nice peppy, Punjabi feel to it. The rhythm is rocking and can be a good dancing track.

“dillagi mein jo beet jaaye”:- here come’s the discrepancy. The tune of the track is a direct copy of Pakistani singer Ali Zafar’s song “rangeen hai”. Otherwise the song’s rather likeable and sung by no. of good singers like Sonu Nigam and Shaan.

“dilnashin”:- for me the only dampener in the album has been this track sung by KK. Even its remix doesn’t strike a chord. It presents itself as a very average composition in comparison to other good numbers.

The long and short of it, ladies and gentlemen, is that this album is a must buy. You’ll love the music. Rush to your nearest music store right now.
