Generally I seldom regret for something I did, and the few times I so I curse myself for doing something like that. One such occasion happened yesterday night. Chennai was alerted for another cyclone hitting by midnight, my mom was as usual complaining for not listening to her and not staying home when it was pouring outside. As I was all set to watch ‘Aaru’so nothing could stop me and all my senses had gone for a vacation trip. As soon as I spent five minutes watching the movie, for the nth time realized that my Mom was right. Late realization and no use, so had no option other than to concentrate on the movie.

I was just wondering whether I had come for the wrong movie or Surya had acted in the wrong one. Can’t really blame him. Guess everyone falls into the trap of doing a Mass entertainer at some point of their career. But sadly the movie badly fails in all departments. I wonder why surya was trying to project him as a mass hero when he found great success in doing versatile characters which had lots of scope to perform. The director Hari seem to have run out of creativity fuel. All through the movie you get the feeling that you watched a scene somewhere recently. He has taken the bottom line from Totti jeya - hero working under a gunda – does everything for him – the gunda plans to kill the hero with all other gundas- the hero kills everyone and movie ends, taken scenes from Saamy, Kovil, Arul, bits and pieces from dhool stirred it with very loud and lousy music from Devisri Prasad supported by some patchy editing work and has given the movie.

There is absolutely no logic in the movie. You have to search for one in the movie. The director’s presentation seems very monotonous and reminds you of his earlier movies. Even the background music in the second half whenever surya comes is pretty similar to the one vikram had in Arul. Even the way the songs have been picturised reminds you of his earlier ones. “kalyanam than’ from saami, ‘kokku meena thinguma’ from Kovil and ‘Nenjam enum’ from Aaru have similar kind of locations costumnes and camera angles. In trying to give a good racy action movie they have struggled to merge the romantic track and comedy track with the main theme of the movie. The comedy sequences involving Vadivelu fail to emote any laughter and are sequenced badly. Who on earth decided Aishwaryas character, what was she trying to do with her terrible voice. Comedy?? Sentiment?? No clue about her characterization.

The romance between the two leads doesn’t kindle any kind of emotions be it laughter, happiness or sympathy from the audience as there not sufficient scenes to emphasis on the depth of their love. The scenes involving the lead pair fail to create any impression rather the love that springs up looks so cinematic and stupid .Trishaplaying the lady lead of the movie does not have much scope to perform. She looks very thin and lifeless.

Suryahas done justice to the role giving it a rugged look. He acts well does the stunt sequence with perfection but sadly that alone doesn’t carry the movie all the way through. I was wondering how he accepted to do such a movie, probably wanted to project himself with an image. We see him delivering punch dialogues and giving close angry looks with addition of some color effects. When you watch this you wonder what’s wrong with him?? Hope he realizes what is best for him and gets back to his normal stuff and gives us some decent movies.

Everybody seems too loud in the movie and the music by Devi sri Prasaddoesn’t help the course either. The songs remind of his previous numbers and really noting worth mentioning in the Back ground score too. Somehow his magic doesn’t seem to work as it does with the Telugu audience. So better luck next time.

On the whole don’t watch the movie if:

  1. You have seen any of Hari's previous movies, totti jeya etc

  2. You expect some 10% logic in the movie

  3. You want to have a nice time watching a movie

  4. You don’t enjoy hardcore cheap masala

  5. You expect a good entertainer form Surya

  6. And obviously is you are below 18 as its ‘A’ certificate

Watch the movie, if:

  1. If you are so jobless in life as me

  2. If you are an ardent fan of surya and would tolerate anything from him

  3. ?@#$#??@@?@???

Hmmm. Hmmmmm..hmmmmmmmm. I am running out, rather have no reasons . So. Sorry.
