I had been to Amrutha Dhare at INOX on 29th September (Thursday) for 6.30 show. We got I6, I7 and I8 tickets. The theatre was 85% full with only few seats left unoccupied. On a Thursday, 85% occupancy, it's a great going by AD. There were only handful of viewers for other Hindi and English flicks.
Actress Prema had also come to INOX theatre that day. But, don't think that she had come to watch Amrutha Dhare. She had come to watch a Hindi movie. :-((
Coming back to Amrutha Dhare is one of the coolest and neatly picturised movies that I have seen in the recent past. It's a Visual feast blended with high voltage emotions between a lovely, newly married couple.
I was amazed by the climax of the movie picturised at Taj Mahal. Your heart will melt down looking at Amrutha's dialogues in the climax. They have been penned greatly by NagathihaLLi. The way Taj Mahal has been portrayed in the climax, it becomes a part of the film in itself.
The story from beginning to the end flows like a river. First half revolves around the romantic relationship between Amrutha and Puru, the newly wed couple. It's heart warming to watch their relationship on the screen. It's also amusing at the same time to watch their quarrles over petty issues. The way they communicate by writing things on the board(like 'Naanu mane bittu hOghta ideeni, Naanu Sattu hOgtheeni etc.,) is an example of NagathihaLLi's finess. And, Puru slurping the Kesari bath on the cheeks of Amrutha in the kitchen provides the most romantic moment of the movie.
As far as Ramya, it's an acting of her life time. I wouldn't be surprised if she gets an award for this movie. Wonderful is the only word that I can say for Ramya's acting. Especially towards the fag end of the movie, Ramya just engulfs you with her serene acting.
Though Dhyan dissapoints, Ramya covers up for all follies from Dhyan's side.
And, there is Big B who just provides some scinitillating moments in the movie.
And, coming to one more enthralling aspect of the movie, the soothing music of Mano Murthy. Oh my god, that title track will kill you in melody. I don't know how many thousands of times I have listened to it. But, still, when you watch it on the screen, it takes you to a different world altogether. The Melodious song of 2005, Nee Amrutha Dhare, kOti januma jathegaathi. The picturisation of this song in rains is class.
There are other songs too in the movie which are superb. geLathi song comes in at a touching moment. Mane katti nOdu is a jovial song. Huduga, Huduga is a romantic song picturised in the terrific locations of ladak. It's also one song which is a treat to your eyes. C. Ashwath's Giliyu Panjaradolilla touches your heart whenever it is played in the movie. It comes in both first as well as the second half of the movie.
Even the support cast of Comedy Time Ganesh, Yeshwanth Surdeshpande, Mandya Ramesh has also done a commanding job. They keep the first half of the movie full of humour. The court scenes involving these three are rib tickling.
All in all, Amritha Dhare is certainly one of the Must watch movies. A classic by NagathihaLLi. If you miss it, you would have missed an experience. Go watch it with your entire family. Such films are a rarity in any language, any time.
By the way, I liked INOX theater very much. The seating arrangement is good and the audio and video quality is world class
