Interview with the Vampire.. Review on Aap Ka Surroor

Being a weekday without rains we reached on time a little later than the lunch time so cudnt have that traditional Burger I am used to before or while watching a movie but yeah I did had a Mirinda and I am glad to say that I did had it as my little princess learned today only “How to sip Mirinda with a straw”. Although at the end of it the straw was in real bad shape.

After the traditional national anthem ceremony I looked around and found out that there were hardly 25 of us in the hall with a capacity of may be 500 or more – I guess that’s why the AC was more effective.

I’d been waiting for this moment for more than a yearsince they started showing the promos with Himesh’s background voice – “when there is faith, there is no fear” and that other one with “Bhagwan ka screenplay….” Don’t remember that fully. Finally the movie starts and our Himesh baba comes onscreen – I hear no claps and no applauds – I don’t know why but me and wifey both were almost laughing whenever he came on screen – at least for first half an hour - than we got used to his presence and really got engrossed in the movie.

This movie more or less felt as if Himesh is a little kid and was throwing tantrums on his dad(Read Producers) “I want to make a movie on myself”, just like that – so he cud sit with his collars up in the air with his so called friends and colleagues in that show Sa Re Ga Ma and point out “Look, that’s me in AKS”, “Isn’t it great”, and they will all applaud – what a wonderful job he has done on screen and types.

Himesh baba plays himself in the movie – so there was no need for Karan Johar types make ups and SRK type dresses as I was glad to see him wear what he wears all the time in that music show, truly he even repeated some of the T Shirts and the caps too, as we already had a count of them in one of the earlier reviews so I was just going thru the brands he was wearing – all International ones – trust me – he doesn’t wears Nike or Reebok types. Wears weathered jeans and a ring roped in a black thread on his neck – guess that brings him good luck and all the work he gets in Bollywood.

It has a typical Hindi movie start with police getting a dead women’s body from some lake – Amazing was to see Raj Babbar playing dad to a German girl – no questions asked. She was doing some sting operation on Himesh Reshammiya to know where exactly he sings – if not from his nose as claimed by people.

Himesh lands in Germanyin Style in a private jet and big huge guards salute him in style too, drives a BMW with almost Z security, he has a lovely friend(This guy rocked throughout the movie), Himesh as projected is a Rock Star from India and all his shows are sold out and the tickets were being sold in Black and the first show he does looks like he is singing a song in some private marriage with 300 people as audiences told to stand at one feet distance from each other so it looks like a huge crowd. He rocks in the song and you can see his cell phone half inside and half outside his denim pockets. Great guy – shud see his body language in that “Aaslaam Waliekum” song.

Finally he meets Riaa– as she happens to be the event organizer in Germany – was checking his room when one thief breaks in and takes her as a hostage to go out of the room while Himesh Arrives with his Z security – he saves the gal in style rather in full style – while he holds her hand to take her off from the thief the cell fone of Riaa rings in Gayatri Mantra ring tone(That happens to be a Pink Moto Razr) and u can almost see them get married right there – if only marriages done over gayatri mantra were acceptable to us Hindu’s – LOL.

Love at first sight– trust me it happens – it happened to me thrice before I got married and trust me – I was in love with my wud be wife when I saw her for the first time – so what’s wrong if Himesh falls in for the gal? That too when girl is none other than our Riaa – she is cute very cute. Five years from now she will be a bomb. Just wait.

Kool – the girl looks good – she will go a very long way in Bollywood as she has already made her mark in tollywood earlier with a couple of hits – she will go a long way here too right like that “Lucky” girl went.

From there – it’s a typical love story– in between Himesh answers all the questions and confesses that he sings from his nose, why he never smiles – as he lost his elder brother at an early age and had no reason to live, finally Riaa becomes the reason overnight and he wants to smile now.

He lands in a soup over his contract with the guy who called him to Germany over some money matters he had taken from Underworld for some other Musician, so that guy plants him in a fake rape case with that German girl whereas it turns out to be a murder and the story gets twisted a little bit more.

Riaa’s dad no more wants her to marry Himesh and gives 24 hrs to them before she is married to somebody else – Himesh gets an opportunity to run out of the jail thanks to that German Gals father who happens to be a cop and comes in the jail to kill him. He proves that he is not the killer in style with the help of his friends and a couple of Auto wallahs who were in Germany for a shooting. Over some typical Bollywood stunts and a couple of car chases later – he makes the villain guy confess everything to him after a good fight and guess what – everything was recorded by a video camera by his friend, awesome. Bad man goes to jail and Himesh gets the gal with the help of his friend(that cool guy) and his lawyer played by the hottie Mallika Sherawat – guess what – She is taller than Himesh – LOL.

In betweenyou have 5 – 6 official songs and 3 – 4 unofficial songs too – like when Himesh becomes nostalgic and picks up a guitar and sings a song with no background music, specially “Tanhaiyaan” Rocks big time for me and “Tera mera milna” too is good, other than that some good one liners from him and his friend which did made us laugh. A Good cap collection. After 6 tequila shots he dances like our Mithunda on his famous song “I am a disco dancer” and throws the same steps as he did 20 years ago – to top it all – Himesh sings the song exactly as Bhappida had done, Hilarious Scene.

One scene takes the cake– where Himesh opens the safe of villain where he had kept the gun after shooting the gal, as he heard it once at the very start of the movie and the digital safe’s keypad has numbers to punch it to open – it made a sound like tin tong tong ting – and he opens it in the second try itself as he is a musical genius and can make tunes even with a safe’s key pad. The way that tune plays in the background on guitar u literally see Sir Sean Connery opening the safe with a cap on his head.

All in all– the movie is strictly for Himesh Fans, stay back if you are not one. Otherwise it is an entertaining movie – I liked it one step more than JBJ anyways.

The movie doesn’t answer one question though – Why does he wear a cap all the time?
