Out of Work. Review on Aan - Men At Work

The film is not one for which a review should be written but it is my duty to caution the proletariat to stay well clear from the picture. I feel that I should put the Merits and De Merits separately. But, this would not be balanced. I have to find a few meits you see. You can get an idea from this that I watched the movie just a week ago and I am having trouble remembering a lot of it. Anyway, Here goes.

The film starts with an opening shot of Sunil Shetty doing his usual action stuff and being superman and He Man in one. He carries a hit list around with him and executes like a robot. The rare encounter specialist in recent films. In his team is the incomparable Paresh rawal, but even he cannot liven up the proceedings much. An army of morons cannot be defeated by a single lamp of knowledge it seems.

Shatrughan Sinha has decided to come back to films and sully whatever fan following he had garnered in his prime. He is a seniour inspector in the crime branch and eats and gives heavy speak at any time and place. Akshay Kumar is a ACP not surprising considering all heroes are ACP nowadays and is Terminator. In his opening scene he kills at least fifty people single handedly and with panache. He is commended for the job and promoted to Mumbai Crime branch. Lara dutta is his muse and she is in the film for a couple of songs and to be in the credits.

Well the middle part is a bit confused and everyone wonders what is going on and what the whole set up is leading to. One thing is clear though it is not permitted to chew tobacco in the office anymore. Jackie Shroff is a businessman who never fails and has the chief minister in his pocket. They have an underworld contact called Pathan. He has a maniac brother and they are fighting a gang war with a gangster called Shetty who sides with the opposition. Also, Pradhan is a businessamn who refuses to play dice with chief minister over a deal so he is liquidated. This sets the police force in action. Paresh Rawal is killed in an ambush they lay to capture the little bro of Pathan but he escapes.

Anyway this changes the outlook of Akshay Kumar who suddenly becomes pro violence and encounter killings. What happens next is shrouded in mystery for me as I do not remember. Butin another of these encounters Sunil Shetty is killed. This brings about some interest in the film as the audience derives morbid pleasure our of seeing him killed and a few tears are shed. This event also forces the commissioner and he is with the police now! If you want to find out what happens at the end you need a good evaluation from a qualified psychiatrist. Doubt he can help you though.
