When the news of Aamir Khan’s broken marriage made furious rounds in the media, nobody quite believed that it was happening to Aamir Khan, the superstar who painted a holier-than-thou image of himself to the world, the superstar who claimed he was a loyal husband and never strayed in his marriage, and (almost) successfully proved that the media had nothing better to do than to intrude into his private space and ruin his marriage. Well, it’s out now. Reena Datta has walked out on hubby Aamir Khan. Reason? His alleged womanising ways!

Aamir Khan and Reena Datta got secretly married on April 18, 1986, a little before Aamir’s Khan super-duper hit Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak released. After the film released, Aamir declared his marital status to the world. 16 years later, they have filed a joint petition for a divorce! The couple is firm on their decision. They want out despite having two children, a son Junaid (11) and a daughter Ira (6). They prefer to go their separate ways rather than reconcile and compromise. It’s believed that Reena, sick of Aamir’s slimy ways, walked out on Aamir, with bag, baggage and bachchas in October, 2001!

In the past, it seems, she did give her star - husband the benefit of the doubt, when film magazines wrote about his alleged peccadilloes with heroines like Mamta Kulkarni, Pooja Bhatt, Twinkle Khanna, and Rani Mukherjee (the list is endless. He brushed them all aside on the flimsy foundation that it was all yellow journalism. This went on for years, until, what’s worse, Aamir’s Khan guilt made him behave in quite a manner that was downright rude and distasteful. As a result, the couple’s favourite occupation at home was to have loud arguments and slanting matches.

To be fair to them, they did, it seems prolong the inevitable for the sake of their growing up children. In fact, in her bid to save their marriage, Reena even did the unthinkable. She became the hands-on executive producer of Lagaan, just so that she could be with her star-husband for all the months that he would be shooting for the film in Bhuj. All this, when she had negative interest in the business of show business.It’s rumoured that his indifference towards her at the outdoor, his alleged openly flirtatious behaviour with the British heroine, Rachel Shelley, sealed the fate of their marriage.

Reena finished her job on hand; she even dutifully attended the music launch of Dil Chahta Hai with her son but that night, she and Aamir Khan remained poles apart. While Aamir Khan went around merrily greeting all his filmy friends (with a posse of gun-toting security staff behind him), Reena didn’t connect with a soul! She was seen at the same table with father-in-law Tahir Hussain, but she remained disconnected from the event. The only person she opened up to and spoke with was actress Tanvi Azmi, Shabana’s sister-in-law. Reena’s behaviour was quite the same at the Oscars too.

She dutifully posed with her star-husband there, but it’s believed she was counting the days before she would be free of the suffocating torture of leading an unhappy married life. She preferred, it seems, an honest, simple life, to the high-profile life of a superstar’s wife riddled with hypocrisy. The buzz is that despite severe family opposition, despite her sister’s intervention and offer to play truce between the couple, despite professional counselling, Reena stuck to her guns. Not wanting to make a public mockery of his private life, Aamir, it’s believed, relented.

The couple filed a joint petition on 27 November, 2002, in which it is stated: The permanent custody of the two minor children, Junaid and Ira, shall be with petitioner no. 2 (that’s Reena Datta). That the petitioner no. 1 (Aamir Khan) shall have access to the two minor children, Junaid and Ira thrice a week i.e. every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 6.00 pm to 8.00 pm. That petitioner no.1 will have access of the children on alternate weekends of every month from Friday 7.00 pm till Sunday 6.00 pm. The petitioners will share summer vacations equally,

Such that the first half of the summer vacations will be with one of the petitioners and the second half with the other petitioner. That the petitioners will have access of the children for the entire Diwali and Christmas vacations. In that year and in the following year every year as per their mutual convenience, such that if one petitioner has access for the Diwali vacation in a year, then the other petitioner will have access for the Christmas vacation in that year and in the following year the petitioner who had access for the Diwali vacation in the previous year, Shall have access for the Christmas vacation.

That the petitioner no.1 should also have access of the two minor children on their birthdays. That all decisions regarding the health and education of the two minor children will be taken jointly by the parties. That in the event of an emergency, petitioner no. 2 will have the choice to take the necessary decision in the interest of the children. As per law, their divorce will come through after six months of filing of their divorce papers, i.e., end of May, 2003. Needless to say, Aamir Khan has bought Reena the duplex flat (at Delphi Apartments) she’s living in currently in the posh suburban neighbourhood of Bandra,

A stone’s throw away from his penthouse. Last heard, Reena is on the lookout for a job and Aamir Khan? Of course, he is footloose and fancy free playing the field once again. Then during Ghulam he fell for a British Journalist Jessica Hines and had a najaz kid with her who is 2 years old. Aamir Khan told her to abort the baby but Jessica didn't want to. He doesn't support Jessica Hines at all she has been raising the child herself he is Jaan Khan. Then during the making of Lagaan where his wife was helping him as well he fell in love with Kiran Rao and now he is living with her and will probably have a couple of bachas with her too and the perfectionist Khan has kissed almost all his leading ladies in his films.

Plus in Mangal Pandey he showed that Mangal fell in love with a prostitute which is not true. It's rubbish and they made it up in a film which should have been completely patriotic Aamir Khan added 'Bombay masala mix' which you would normally see in a Mallika Sherawat film. So what I’m asking you guys is what kind of example Aamir Khan is setting for youngsters? Aamir Khan sleeps around with women and that is very cheap especially because he is a big star and his personal life is in the limelight Aamir Khan should at least be decent and set a good example for youngsters look at Shah Rukh Khan for example Shah Rukh Khan proves that it is possible to be the biggest and the best and still be a decent family man.
