Aamir Khan started his career in films with a runaway success 'Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak', a film directed by his cousin, Mansoor Khan. Aamir did not have to strive for an opportunity to be a hero in films, at the same time he was humble enough to boost his prospects with talent and a lot of hard work. He usually does 1 or 2 films a year and make them super hits. Aamir was an india answer to hollywood equaling the talents of al pacino and robert de niro

Now, Aamir is slowly turning to production. His latest venture produced and acted by Aamir Khan himself has received the Oscar Nomination of 2002 in the Best Foreign Film category. Lagaan is the third Indian film to be selected for Oscar Nominations.

Debut Film : Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak (1988) In short top five movies of aamir khan are:

LAGAAN

RANGEELA

DIL CHATA HAI

ANDAZ APNA APNA

GHULAM

Lagaan (2001) (co-star: Gracy Singh Considered to be a modern classic of Indian cinema, LAGAAN is a musical drama which tells the story of a central Indian farming village in 1893. The village waits for the monsoons to come and rain on its crops, but the ground remains dry and infertile. Meanwhile, British ruler Captain Russell (Paul Blackthorne) demands lagaan--or double normal taxes--from the villagers. When it becomes clear that they can't pay, Russell challenges the villagers to a game of cricket, a game they know nothing about.

Teaching the villagers about the game falls on the shoulders of farmer Bhuvan (Aamir Khan). As they begin to learn, the villagers are inspired to go up against Russell, with tax negotiation as the stakes for the game. Full of choreographed musical numbers and climaxing in a pulse-pounding cricket match, LAGAAN is a fun, heartwarming British/Indian production that should have no difficulties translating across other national borders.

2..Rangeela (Hindi- 1995) (co-star:urmila mathondkar) Mili (Urmila Matondkar) a junior artist in films dreams of making it big on the silver screen. Her childhood friend Munna (Aamir Khan) encourages her to pursue her dreams. When a superstar Rajkamal (Jackie Shroff) spots her on the beach, he asks the director to give her a break opposite him.

Munna, meanwhile, comes to realise that he loves Mili but doesn't dare confess his love to her as he is petrified that she might reject him. Rajkamal finds her fascinating as she treats him as a friend rather than a star. On the day of the premiere, Munna decides to leave town....and in the climax something is different...aamir is at his best....

3..Dil chata hai.. The story is based on the life and relationships of three friends Akash, Siddharth and Sameer. All three of them are different in their own way- they have different perspectives on women, love and relationships How they deal with it has been brought out well in the film. Sameer played by Saif Ali Khan treats everything lightly...life, relationships everything is fun for him, while Siddharth (Akshaye Khanna) is just the opposite. He keeps looking for the perfect woman and falls for one, much older to him... Tara played by Dimple Kapadia.

Aamir Khan as Aakash, cares for himself. He loves the beautiful Shalini (Preity Zinta). But for him love is not important. Saif with his perfect comic sense, Akshaye with his facial expressions, Dimple with her commanding presence and Preity with her vibrancies and beauty all have done a good job. But it's Aamir Khan who walks away with the film in spite of having some negative shade to his character.

4 Andaz Apna Apna (Hindi- 1994) The movie is a fun filled treat for all the aamir fans.. Two lazy good-for-nothing guys (Aamir and Salman Khan) wish to get rich quick and they set out to win Karishma (Raveena Tandon) over as they think she is an heiress. Her business manager , who is after the heiress's wealth, makes repeated attempts to kill her.

Rajkumar Santoshi came out with this out-and-out comedy with hit numbers 'Ello Ji Sanam Hum Aa Gaye' , 'Yeh Raat Aur Yeh Doori' and 'Dil Karta Hai, Tere Paas Aaun'. Definitely worth adding to the all-time favorites!!

5 Ghulam (1998)

Starring :Aamir Khan, Rani Mukherjee, Rajat Kapoor

Director :Vikram Bhatt

Music Director :Jatin-Lalit

Producer :Mukesh Bhatt

Ghulam is the story of an uneducated and orphaned youngster Siddarth Marathe (Aamir Khan) who is close to his elder brother Jai (Rajit Kapoor). Jai, who works for a gang leader Raunak Singh (Sharat Saxena), believes that their father (Dalip Tahil) was a coward and a liar. Siddarth, who worships his father’s memories, is tormented by his brother’s opinion.

A rich girl Alisha (Rani Mukherjee) and her brother Hari (Akshay Anand) enter Siddarth’s life. Hari, a social worker, encourages Siddarth to stand up to the tyranny and oppression imposed by Raunak Singh, forcing him to go against his brother. Watch the film that is filled with lots of action.
