It was when I was having my dinner at my Uncle's place...when I was in standard One that I saw him on screen for the very first time. The good old National television was airing Chitrahaar with Papa Kehte hain from the movie ''Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak''. And I remember being teased and eventually scolded for not paying much attention to food..I just couldn't stop admiring him and his Oh so very cute smile!

That was the beginning of my awesome and unconditional affinity with this magnificent actor. As the years passed by, that is, when I got some sense of judgement in true sense, I realized what is connoted to when they say INSTINCTIVE AFFINITY. With time, I have come to admit that my first choice is nothing short of ULTIMATE.

Yaadon Ki Baaraat (he was the young Tariq Khan), Raakh, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak were his first steps to the Indian film industry. QSQT (1989) announced his vociferous arrival. His honest, innocent and chocolate boy image floored everyone. Thereafter, he did quite a lot of movies in the same spate ( e.g., Tum Mere Ho, Love Love Love) but none of them could recreate the magic of QSQT. But needless to say, he continued to rule the roost and steal zillions of hearts.

Then came the age of movies like Dil,Dil Hai Ke Maanta Nahin, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, Hum Hain Raahi Pyaar Ke, Rangeela along with others. Aamir's attempt at action movies was witnessed in Baazi; but his action hero trope is so far best exemplified in his role as ACP Ajay Singh Rathore in Sarfarosh. He literally set the screen on fire with stupendous performance in 1947-Earth. It is his meticulous nature and gingerly selective choice of movies besides sheer hard work and dedication that has placed him where he is.

His success was further accentuated by the very refreshing Dil Chahta Hai and the magnum opus Lagaan. While DCH saw him as a youth of today, he essayed his counterpart in pre-independent India! His much awaited next release The Rising is going to present him as Mangal Pandey, the hero of Sepoy Mutiny of 1857 India. (Can't wait for that!!!)

He might not be the biggest star of Bollywood but is sure the brightest one. Be it Munna</> of Rangeela, Siddhu of Ghulam, Dilnawaaz of 1947-Earth, Akash of Dil Chahta Hai or Bhuvan of Lagaan...Give him any kind of role and he would do complete justice to it no matter what. Perfection personified is Aamir, the actor. He is surely THE BEST of all and my first and last fave!
