Not worth a watch. Review on Aamdani Atthani Kharcha Rupaiya

Synopsis:

For South director Raghavendra Rao, this is his 99th film under the Padmalaya films banners which had previous hits like Himmatwala. This film is inspired by the Telugu hit Kshemanga Velli Labhanga Raandi which, shows the goings-on in a middle class family in today's world. The makers have tried to deal with the problems faced by them, through comedy, but fail on direction and having very abrupt story which is unnecessarily prolonged for a long time. Both Chi-Chi and Tabu have acted well in this movie - but somehow lost somewhere.

The directors and producers have made this movie with the hope that the average Indian middle class family will be able to identify with the theme of the film. The film is based around the lives of three men who work together in a garage. Played by Chandrachur Singh ( Ravi), Vinay Anand (Vijay) and Johny Lever (Appu), these guys also happen to be neighbors. The bad habit they all share is that they are spendthrifts and keep on borrowing money - even from the peon of the garage they work. Tabu (Meena), Isha Koppikar (Anjali) and Ketaki Dave (Vimla) play the role of their typical homely Indian wives. They give their husbands the ultimatum because bearing the burden of house expenses on measly salaries is not enough. Juhi Chawla (Jhumri) and Govinda (Bhishma) play two central characters in the film that step in at the appropriate moment to save the three couples life.

Bhishma is a reformed bhai who is now a common man's savour. He likes helping people in distress. When he comes to know the issues faced by the three couples - he along with his wife Jhumri try to help them but fail to do the same. The three women are helped by Bhishma and Jhumri when the three tapori husbands lose their job, they try to convince the three wives to work. Their husbands do not like the of their wives doing jobs, and when their wives start working as a result of increasing creditors, the husbands throw a fit.

The men go to the extent of throwing their wives out and bringing a cabaret girl home to serve and entertain them. Now the wives get aggressive and hit back. Vimla, the most battered of the lot, picks up a knife to kill Appu. When money is needed for an operation for Ravi and Meena's daughter, the women raise it with the help of Jhumri and her husband, while the men land behind bars for smuggling.

The one-liners of Jhonny Lever and a-ra-ra Jhunahadh style of Ketaki Dave will get a smile on your face, but it won't last for a very long and you will feel distressed and bored after sometime. The good emotional moments are almost lost, like in one scene where Appu beats Vimla, instead of sympathizing the crowd is seen laughing. Though Govinda has acted well, there is little that he can do in this so-crowded movie. All other actors have fared average.
