With the advent of satellite Television came the influx of various entertainment, regional and news channels.  And with this influx arrived competition.

To be on top of one another, these channels will go to any lengths to get viewers glued to the TV.  News channels show less of news and more of thrillers.  The way the news is relayed is nothing short of melodrama.  'Aap jankar hairan reh jayenge' 'dil dehalane wali khabar' 'akhen khuli reh jayengee'  wonder what happened to the spirit of journalism?

If I want news as in News I still rely on good old doordarshan, where the news readers still read news the way it is and do not sensationalise the news.

When Bindra won the olympic gold, it was mentioned on DD news as India won its first gold medal in the individual category after more than a century. end of story.

The same news on the other channels :  people of india being interviewed right from kashmir to kanyakumari and from gujrat to assam to get their views and their feelings on Mr. Bindra winning a gold medal.

As all patriotic people, yes we are happy that one of our compatriot has managed to win a gold medal at the prestigious olympics event.  But does this news need to be sensationalised the way it is being done?

even the loss of the test series by India made headlines.  The channels probably dont know where to draw the line when it comes to sensationalising news.  Every little thing is sensationalised.  crimes are investigated live and even before the FIR is filed, the verdict's out on the tv as to who is guilty.

I wonder why do we need the courts for justice when we have our very own news readers / tv channels willing to step in and take up the cudgels and delivery instant justice? Its time a restraining authority is formed to cull such baseless and nonsense news channels.India TV Takes the cake where bakwaas news is concerned
