A movie by KS Ravikumar raises the expectations to a very high level and that too a movie starring Surya, who has been selecting good stories these days, just means that this has to be a Blockbuster.
Of course, this movie is a block buster, just that the block is the one we had in our minds about these star actor and director combo.
"Son is lost in some family mishap, joins a bad gang, comes back to the family and there is a happy ending."
Sorry for opening the plot, but its an extremely well known plot, known to anyone who has been watching tamil movies since MGR times.
There is nothing great about this movie except for the banner and big names. Vadivelu comedy is the only solace and happens to be there all along. Sometimes, it almost looks to be the most relevant track rather than the actual movie track.
Nayanthara has been quite a show in the movie. She can qualify to be the next best role to Vadivelu. Nagesh's son, Anandbabu is back into tamil cinema after a long time, gets a side role where he joins all the others for some 10 frames of action and dialogue. Oh yeah, he gets his image as a villian when Surya fights him in the hotel room.
Songs are good, and sequences are rich. Unnecessary sequences, but nevertheless well made.
Stunt, action, camera etc take the back seat, as the movie doesn't have a holding storyline. The direction is good for this pathetic plot, with twists and turns in lots of places.
Overall, a movie which I couldn't watch. I didn't know what to do for the 3 whole hours sitting inside the theatre. I guess these are one of the main reasons why people start pirating DVD, you just can fast forward;)
