Originality:

Its an absolute shame that the majority of Indian music we ever get to hear are either tracks from movies or occasionally individual compositions or songs from solo artists. The concept of a ''band'' almost does not exist in India. Nevertheless, this void is being occupied by bands from abroad; Jal, a band from Pakistan is doing it in quite some elan. Having said that, this review should not be placed under the Indi-Pop header, only because it is NOT.

This album Aadat by them is an absolute delight to the ears. Despite the band split some months back, they've delivered some fabulous international music.

Tracklist:

  1. Rangon Mein

  2. Lamhey

  3. Ik Din Aayega

  4. Panchi

  5. Bikhra Hoon Mein

  6. Dil Haray

  7. Teri Yaad

  8. Aadat

  9. Manchala

  10. Har Jagah Hein Jal

My favourites being Teri Yaad, Aadat, Ik Din Aayega and the ones I didn't mention; which again defeats the purpose of starting this sentence in the first place =)

The music can be placed under Soft Rock with heavy influences from Classical Music, Farhan Butt (vocals) has delivered it flawlessly. All the compositions by Goher Mumtaz(guitar) are VERY VERY impressive. Guest drummer Salman Albert(eP) has done a fine job too.

The album is a MUST BUY. Looking forward to more magical material from Jal.
