We live in a world that's driven by money. If you have money you are good.If you are poor then you can go to hell. The government periodically increases indirect taxes so that things we need regularly become more and more expensive. But the wealthy are being taxed less and less.Food items are so expensive that eating has become a luxury for others.Despite this the various media encourage us to splurge on useless things such as HD TVs and 3D movies.Formula One is given coverage like our life depended on it.Vain, rude celebrities are promoted as if they owned society.
And now with all this comes the AMRI tragedy. We, in Kolkata have so far believed that Advanced Medicare Research Institute or AMRI is the best hospital in the eastern region. But it seems that this is only public perception. My own uncle was admitted here two years back. Then, our next door neighbour also died there about a month back.We hear the same thing from everyone.AMRI takes a lot of money but the service is quite ordinary. The hospital seems to be interested only in making money. And now they have killed 80 of their patients.Where is our world going. Is there any hope for the poor.Or will we stop worshipping money and get back to being human.
I don't know but we must not be fleeced or cheated anymore.
