I'm here to share my nightmare experience of ABN Amro Credit Card. Before going into my experience, I am happy to see that the voting rating is poor for ABN but I would like to see it going further down in the future.

I have a savings bank account with ABN Amro Bank Chennai. I always have a great passion for ABN Amro bank and thought very high of those who were working in that bank as High

Professionals. Yeah we can call them as ??professional cheats??, I am saying this now since I had a bitter experience with them last week.

Couple of weeks ago I received a call from one of their associate, informing me that I am eligible for first year free membership since I hold a saving bank account with them.

I was not really excited in going for the credit cards but since it was from ABN Amro Bank, I said OK for it (So here starts the trouble).

The very next day an executive came to home asking for identity proof, and I gave him my driving license photocopy. There was another verification call from New Delhi confirming my application. Then within 4 days I got the card along with few brochures.

In one of the brochure it was said that Rs 650 would be debited from account. Immediately I called up the so called customer care service people to inquire about it. I got a reply from them that I will not be charged for it. So going by their words, I was happy but at the sametime bit cautious. So I didnt use the card. Then one fine day I got a statement from them asking me to pay the above said amount!

I felt that I was cheated after seeing this bill, so I thought that I have to cancel the card and shouldnt take those people?s words for any cause. Now I went straight to the bank to cancel my card.

I went to the bank straight and from the Help Desk people, I was asked to call the customer care people, I called up them from the bank line and explained my issue to them, she then informed me that she will transfer my line to the Credit Card department and before transferring the executive doesnt even bothered how urgent it is for me, there she shooted a straight question to me whether I owned a car, first I was taken back and I told yes and asked her how was that related to my Credit Card issue, she informed me that there was an offer coming up from ABN to account user with regard to insurance. Let me tell you these people doesnt understand any feelings of the customer. ??I told her straight away that No need of anymore offers from ABN??

My line was now transferred to the Credit Card Department, waiting for an executive to attend my call. No one picked up after me waiting for 2-3 mins. Then again the same executive came to the line and told me that the line was busy and that the whole process would be completed within a day and she asked for my mobile no, then I happily gave my mobile number thinking that they would call me and solve the issue. I waited and waited for the whole day nobody called me from the bank.

Next day I again went to the bank and samething happened and again the same result but with different executive.

Now I ran out of patience and went straight to the help desk and explained my story like how I was cheated and when tried to cancel the CC what the response was from the executives. This time I was really surprised when she offered her help (duty) to me like what is the process and otherthings to be done for cancelling the card.

So now I am waiting to get my card cancelled so in meantime I thought of writing about this incident to the MS Users.

Morale of the Story:

  1. All private banks are cheats, Its just that each one gets cheated from different banks

  2. When you are in deep trouble to save yourself from the bank there are NO Customer Services for you.

Much Regards.
