It is not every day that you are visited by the local goon to collect money, so I consider today to be different. Here is a real story for you. I had an ABN Amro Bank Freedom card a few years back. I used the card between the years 2001 to 2004. I was surprised to see that the bank was overcharging and not sending its statements on time. I cancelled the card and asked to be provided a settlement letter.
Till 2006 I received no letter and then one day I received a statement of an obscene amount. Called the bank and was told that the card was active and those were the late payment charges that were levied. Talked to the collections agent and settled the bills and received a settlement letter.
Today a goon visited my old residence. ( I stopped living there since 2003) and misbehaved with my parents and claimed that I had a payment pending from ABN Amro credit card.
Please whatever you do please do not deal with this bank. They are a bunch of frauds & cheats. (Can’t use the language I really have in mind as this is a public portal.)
Right now I am digging out my settlement letters and lodging a police complaint against the bank. If any one of you have any ideas about how we can bring these types of Banks to court please let me know.
