Khaled has touched a lot of chords in the heart by this book. You can feel the pain the characters are facing, you will keep thinking about them long after you have finished the book.
The narration is splendid indeed, you can feel the bombings in Kabul as if its your own neighbourhood. Khaled has painted very vivid pictures of the war, you are right in the middle of it. The book does start to drag in the middle and you start to feel like its become a regular story, but it jumps back again and surprises you.
If you are a sucker for War background love stories, this is one book you should not be missing - but read it if you can bear the sadness in the story, luckily the book ends on a better note. The book also comes out to be very real because it talks about the war in Afganistan and all of us who are old enough to read the book have seen it so closely.
I couldnt go to sleep peacefully till I finished the book - the next on my chart is of course - The Kite runner!
Happy reading
