A Rush of Great Songs is more like it!

Originality:

''Open up your eyes'' to this new CD by the unfimiliar band known as Coldplay. There first CD, Parachutes was their first album, and a great one. With the singles Yellow and Trouble, the band became a complete hit! The album did have problems and songs that weren't very good. I'd say 6/10 of the album was worth listening to. Now, with their new album entitled A Rush of Blood to the Head, the band is better (and by one song) bigger. Eleven tracks ending at an attractive 54 minutes and 12 seconds, the album is GOLD. Unlike the first CD, the songs are connected in a way and sort of tell a story about Chris Martin's (Lead singer) love life. Which had it's highs and lows. but let's break it down.

Politik

The first song on the CD, and it's a loud. It's nothing (musiclly that is) like ''Don't Panic'', the first song on Parachutes. The song is about opening up your eyes about something. Possibly his love was a politican, and they met by Chris telling her some ideas about governing. That's just my opinion. I give this song about 4/5.

In My Place

This is Coldplay's first single on Rush. It's a very good song, especially the chours. It's about Chris's ''place'' and in it he feels great. The guitar riff is amazing. I give it also a 4/5.

God Put a Smile Upon Your Face

My favourite song on this album. He's describing his girlfriend, but the song ain't cheerful. Not that it's depressing, it's just uncheerful. Although he states God put a smile on her face, it's more like ''God put that darn smile on your face'', like he dislikes or something. Great acousitics. I give it 5/5.

The Scientist

Holy geeze piano. The improved version of Trouble. The song is so well done, but it's flaw is that the instrumnents come in a bit later than they should. The lyrics are wonderfull, and it's a bout seeing love though glasses and being a scientist. A thought provoking song that should be their next single. I give it a 4.5/5.

Clocks

The last of the great songs. This one starts off promising, but in the end you wanna hear something else. The song has a certain ''time'' theme to it. It's about different time periods of Chris's love life. The song has some words that don't go with the others, a weird comment about taming tigers and the chours is a tad bland. But a great song none the less. I give it an 3.5/5.

Daylight

Compared to the crap we listen on the radio these days, and so many bands ripping of Pearl Jam, this song is awesome. But on this CD, well, it's the start of the second half. The song is pretty well done, the chours is real great, but the versus are dare I say ''boring'' to listen to. But only my opinion folks. I give it 3/5.

Green Eyes

Ah, there's always the song that just doesn;t cut it for me. Chris sounds so weird, and the song is so old fashioned, I just didn't like it. I'm sure to skip this song whenever I'm listening to the CD. What's it about? something about his girlfriend being a rock which he stands on. ???!. Oh well. 2/5.

Warning Sign

I enjoyed this song. Although it doesn't exactly catch you're attention, it's lyrics are great. I always love songs that allways ask the girl/guy to forgive. The lyrics are geniune. The piano is great, Chris is great, almost a good song other than the fact that the insturments aren't something to clap for. I had trouble rating this one, so I gave it a 3.25/5.

A Whisper

Yeah, rock on! This song has reminds of classic rock songs I love! The song was a surprise to find on this album. Although the lyrics aren't to great, the guitar riff is awesome. The song bursts intom action almost instantly. The chours is great, something I wouldn't expect from Coldplay knowing their last Cd, and every other song on this CD. I give it 4/5.

A Rush of Blood to the Head

The album title song proves itself to be: Scary!. This song gives me the creeps, it's slow, and about chris and how he's going crazy! He says he's gonna burn down houses and get a gun. And blame it all on a a rush of blood to the head. Scary, nice song though. 3.5/5.

Amsterdam

Like the last track on Parachutes, this song starts off with piano. I think It's some type of bonus track, since you have to wait about 15 seconds from the last CD to hear it. But on the CD It shows the track. The song is slow, and about Chris leaving. Maybe leaving because of the failed relationship he seems to be in. The song is a bonus, but not exactly the best, I give it a 3/5.

So there's my rather longer review. Hope you've enjoyed the first review on the subject!
