Highly entertaining; very inspiring; mildly sad !!. Review on 300 Movie

In a nutshell It is a movie about 300 Spartan warriors who fight for defending their freedom. The movie is about how they attain glory! If you are thinking that I ruined the plot for you, dont fret. because the movie is about how they went about the fight!

The movie is based on a graphic novel by Frank Miller by the same name. The best thing about  the movie is that the comic book comes alive on the screen. You have to see it to believe it as words can simply cannot do justice to what is presented on the screen. If you want a taste of what i'm talking about, watch the trailer on youtube.com. And the only reason why I'm not saying much about the photography is because it is so great, you have to see it to believe it! The effective use of CGI effects creates a simply mind blowing movie - which coupled with a great sound editing - completely enthralls your senses.

I found the movie mildly depressing as it presents a nice picture about the corruption that prevents people from doing the right thing and getting in the way of progress. It goes on to say that corruption is not a new thing. It has existed since centuries. There are a selfish bunch of people who will sacrifice the good of many people and will sell them out for their personal benefit. This is true in the movie and it is true in real life as well.

The movie is inspiring as it goes on to show that progress can be made inspite of corruption and in order to achieve that, we must continue to have faith in ourselves and firmly believe in the good in our hearts. If a person has a firm determination and an iron will, anything can be achieved and no feat is impossible. The movie endorses that history is testament to the fact that ultimately good will prevail.

And last but not the least. YES; It is very very entartaining!I wish I could give everything in the movie a higher rating!

I must warn that the action is gory and many people, especially women, may not be able to digest it. In saying that, I have to contardict myself as there were many hot chicks in to watch the movie. And going by the looks on their faces after the movie, they did seem to have quite enjoyed it!:-)

Although there was some nudity in the movie, it was all done quite tastefully and I had to really try hard to remember that it existed in the midst of all the action for the sake of mentioning it in my review.

Please dont see it in a dingy theater. Spend the extra bucks and watch it in a decent theater. I wanted to watch the move in IMAX and it was sold out! Had to come back for a later show, but the wait for the IMAX was totally worth the experience! The second time round, I went an hour earlier to ensure I had tickets and sat in a bar to kill time before the show begun. The waitress  informed me over a  long-island iced tea that almost everyone at the bar had come to see 300!

The movie did raise a moral question in my mind - Was the queen right in giving herself to the corrupt official? Do share your take on it with a good justification for your answer.

There is much hype around the movie - My last word is - The hype is totally worth it . GO WATCH IT NOW!
