Well as you will be willing to know that what does the 300 means?300 is the count figure of spartans.who fought the bravest and greatest battle ever fought for glory and pride.this movie is based on the award winning series of novel written by frank miller.300 is a 2007 film adaptation of the graphic novel 300 by Frank Miller, itself partly inspired by another film, The 300 Spartans.and is an a semi-historical account of the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 BC. The film is directed by Zack Snyder with Frank Miller attached as an executive producer and consultant, and was shot mostly with bluescreen to duplicate the imagery of the original comic book.
Spartan King Leonidas(Gerard Butler) and 300 Spartans fight to the last man against Persian King Xerxes(Rodrigo Santoro) and his army of more than one million soldiers, while in Sparta, Queen Gorgo(Lena Headey) attempts to rally support for her husband. The story is framed by a voice-over narrative by the Spartan soldier Dilios(David Wenham). Through this narrative technique, all manner of fantastical creatures are introduced, placing 300 within the genre of historical fantasy.
this story revolves around spartan king leonidas.along his team of 300 spartan soldiers including his captain of army.the Thermopylae.where the battle have to fought.some priests and elderly peoples of sparta .did not allow leonidas.to fight for his land.they became corrupt and the greed was in their eyes for kingdom.of leonidas.they argued wth him that there is season of festival.and there is no rule that no war is being conducted in the mean time.the priests even convinced the princess .for which all the peoples of spartans believe that what ever she say is the wish of godess.but leonidas stand tall to his decision.he was willing to take the persian king xerxes.so he ordered his captain(called as a captain).to take the best of 300 soldiers in his army and go for a war against persia(persia was one of the major dominating kigdom.with millions of brave & immortal soldiers in their army equiped with every thing for destruction).the team of 300 was ready to block the xerxes and his army of million brave soldiers.the fight was for the 300 against one million.and the epic was revealed.as the persian empire led by xerxes was intrested to go a short pass through thermopylae.in central greece.where the king leonidas was standing with 300 spartans and 700 thespian volunteers supporting his army.On the arrival of Xerxes at Thermopylae, he found that the place was defended by a body of three hundred Spartans and about seven thousand hoplites from other states, commanded by the Spartan king Leonidas.
Xerxes learning about the small number of Greek forces and that several Spartans outside the walls were exercising and combing their hairs, in his perplexity, immediately called Demaratos to explain him the meaning of all these. Demaratos told him that the Spartans will defend the place to the death and it was custom to wash and dress their hairs with special care when they intended to put their lives in great danger. Xerxes who did not believe Demaratos, delayed his attack for four days, thinking that the Greeks as soon as they would realize his great forces will disperse.
He sent also heralds asking to deliver up their arms. The answer from Leonidas was "come and take them"
A Spartan, who was told about the great number of Persian soldiers, who with their arrows will conceal the sun, he answered: "so much the better, we will fight in the shade.after waiting four days .fifth day he attacked.and 300 spartan soldiers who were given training from their births.as persian soldiers stepping one aftter another.and making spartans going back from that shorth path.and suddenly leonidas give command.attack!.the 300 in few hours killed the army of 10, 000 soldiers alone.it was because the path was short.and only few hundreds from both sides can go though that.the xerxes found heavy losses.then xerxes ordered his team called as THE IMMORTAL.this team had never lost a battle.then there was 300 vs 10, 000 immortals.again spartans killed them all.and hang their bodies.with their.spears.Xerxes was desperate but his luck changed when a Malian named Ephialtes told him about a secret path across the mountain. Immediately a strong Persian force was sent with Hyrdanes, guided by the traitor. he betrayed greeks.but Leonidas did not wait the Persian attack, which had being delayed by Xerxes and advanced in the path, spartans warriors always fights with there spears.they believed that bows & arrows are the coward's weapons.but as soon as there spear brokes the spartans. tremble.they fought with their.broken spears and even after with their hands.then there was rain of arrows done by persians over them.they were all trembled and fall down in land.but yet no persian soldier has courage to go near them.leonidas fell.At the end, the Spartans exhausted and wounded, carrying the body of Leonidas, retired behind the wall, but they were surrounded by the enemy, who killed them with arrows.On the spot, a marble lion was set by the Greeks in honor of Leonidas and his men, together with two other monuments near by. On one of them, the memorable words were written. "Oh stranger tell the Lacedaemonians, that we lie here, obedient to their laws".
this was the biggest 3 day last stand by any army.A small force led by King Leonidas of Sparta blocked the only road through which the massive army of Xerxes could pass.
the story is all about courage of the king and his obedient 300 spartans.which makes them the bravest and the greatest warriors of all time.world salutes there bravery for their peoples.!
