30 days of Night is the baby of Director David Slade. The movie revolves around a small village somewhere in a deserted ice land, maybe Alaska, surrounded and terrorized by vampires. The movie was quite tough to digest in the beginning, but then It started liking it. The reason why the movie clicked is because the of the thrill introduced and the season.
There are lots of vampire movies like underworld evolution, blade, dracula etc, but the winter season and the theory of days as nights in the antartic makes this movie very unique.
The vampires are good with the makeup and look very modern. The actor who is the local police man has originality in his expression and doesnt look very heroic, which makes it realistic.
The action scenes like burning the vampires down, chopping them using the ice cutter truck are really deadly. The thrilling sound effects are not so good, but do really work.
The climax is really tough and ok, where out hero needs to be a vampire to fight the vampire chief. Somehow he succeeds. And the rest of the vampires escape to nowhere, maybe for their return in the 2nd part of the movie in 2010.
Overall, give it a try. 30 days of night surely has some scenes to send shiver down your spines.
And in the beginning I had a doubt if this movie was portrayed like the 300 Frank Miller movie style, just because the fonts of the movie title resembled the 300 font style, but it wasn't something near it. So 300 fans, beware!
And if any one has read the original graphic novel of 30 days of night - MUST SEE THIS in real LIFE!
