If your friend asks you to share the most dazzling experience you had do you have something adventurous to tell?
What makes one to attempt this dangerous adventure? Really dangerous and life threatening? Many a time it is the circumstances. They say 'need is the mother of creation'.
21 is a newly released Hollywood movie which tells the story of a dazzling experience by a teenager student. Ben Campbell (Jim Sturgess) has applied for the Robinson Scholarship to join for the prestigious Harvard medical school. He is eligible for an admission but being one who struggle to live the day he cannot think to accumulate $300,000/- required. To become elegible for the scholarship he was told to tell a story which dazzles and it can give to him if he really impress the committee. Ben tells his story where he tried to get the money to join the course. He was a brilliant student and impressed his professor Mickey Rosa (Kevin Spacey). Micky Rosa was an old blackjack hero but the corrupted professor find a bright future with Ben's extreme brilliance and memory power. Jill Taylor (Kate Boseworth) tempts Ben to join the team and in turn he becomes the hero of the team who always win. They fly everyweekends to different casinos with different names and identity. The experience from the old master and the planned cheating made the team super successful till the team break up and Ben was hinted to the merciless casino owner Cole Williams (Laurence Fishburne). Watch the film to know more of the story which I think will dazzle you as well!
To begin with this is a film which I liked it for the story and its presentation. It is not a great film, but a very good film which can hook you on screen till its end. Story/Screenplay/Direction – Very good. Robert Luketic, the director deserve special applauds.
Jim Sturgess impress and he lived the character. Kate Boseworth didn't have much to do except impress and support but she did her role convincingly. Kevin Spacey was very good. Rest of the team mates and Laurence Fishburne did perfect jobs.
The film is technically brilliant with bright Cinematography, crisp editing and good choreography.
The movie I think was meant to shot in a Far East Asian background but then a western actor is chose to hit the box office counters. The story is said to be based on real life.
There are few clear messages we get from the movie:
We fix money as our means to achieve our objective and when we start earning money (and that in abundance) we change our priorities and money becomes our motive.
There are short cuts to make money, but all have its own risks. Some times the risk is life taking.
Once we reach our primary objective we should consolidate our position and secure it before proceeding further, either way.
The writers maintained the practical sense and gives out the correct message, which I believe is a success in itself. They don't try to create a super hero and I like such life inspiring stories.
If the film come across you, no need to think twice…watch it, it is a very good film brilliantly told.
