2012 A Kid's Show. Review on 2012 We Were Warned Movie

I have not written any review for movies in MS. But I got an urge to write for this movie. I am an ardent movie watcher and when a movie is good then I start following the Producer or Director's next venture. Independence Day in 97 was my favorite and there were numerous instances of having watched the movie several times. I have even encouraged my family and kids to watch it.

Since 2012 is produced by the same producer Emmerich of ID, I left no stones unturned to watch the movie as soon as possible. I finally managed to watch the movie on Nov 18th. The movie started off with visuals right from the beginning and by interval I started to glance at my watch several times waiting for the show to end! Of course the visuals were excellent, the graphics were outstanding.

I was not so happy about the thin story line. ID was definitely an eye opener for a movie watcher, while 2012 was definitely a eye closer zzzzz :). At the end of the movie, what I obtained was an HEADACHE, it is not for the sound effects but for the boring and OVER exaggerated story line.

Lets come to some incidents which definitely needs an argument. The story starts off with an american geologist Adrian visiting India. Believe it or not, India was portrayed as people sill wearing turbans! Even the taxi driver wears a turban! Also the taxi was some old British 1950's car! For a moment the scene resembled Indiana Jones movie set. Such old tradition of India, but when the american enters the lab of his friend then the technology belongs to the 21st century! Crazy. Ok, I buy it that Indians were first people to warn the world about the unstable crust, I mean in the movie :). But as the movie goes on, there is no mention about India try to make an attempt to save the mankind in return!

As the movie goes on, the hero is really a hero trying to save his family along with his wife's boyfriend! I couldn't digest this. He escapes death not once but many times. According to the scenes, there is no chance of a human escaping death on the second time. Till the end of the movie, Cusack doesn't have even a scratch on him! The worst part is that, US is shown as the only continent with cities falling down like nine pins! What happened to Europe, Africa and Asia. There is just a mention on the computer that water has enveloped the rest of the continents. And guess what, China is still there and they have built 3 ships or what we call as modern Noa's Ark. So the Chinese have the capability to build such things then? What US is for? There has been a lot of inter relation between US and China. The movie is just released before Obama's visit to China! Anyway it is upto the readers to keep guessing. The end shows Africa as the only continent still out of water and is claimed as the major land mass still left ABOVE water! I suppose Himalayas was higher then any region in the world?? Independence Day movie moral was United-We-Rise, while 2012 says United-We-Fall!

There have been a lot of discussions going on from the moment 2012 started to show trailers. Everyone started to question whether the world will come to an end on 12-21-12. I started to rummage through the net as it is the only source of information. There have been many theories about this catastrophe. There are predictions that World War 3 will end the world. Some say a meteor or a large asteroid will wipe the slate clean. And some mention about global warming as the factor. Whom to believe? Also there is a mention that it were the Mayans who predicted the 2012, but some say that while writing on the stone, the Mayans ran out of space and they had to end with 2012!

A funny difference about Hollywood and Bollywood movies is that, according to this movie the hero's wife is openly flirting with her boyfriend (neighbour). This is quiet common in English movies where the hero gracefully accepts his fate. While in Bollywood, it is other way round with 2 heroines and a hero formula. In the end the second heroine is packed off. Finally, the moral is that the original pathis or pathnis are faithful! Think at what cost people learn their mistakes and who are benefited in the end :). What a difference :)

If you are planning to watching the movie then best to watch alone, with friends and kids will love such stuff as long as you assure them that it is JUST A MOVIE and based on a comic book. Avoid going as a couple as future plans might be scrapped :). Can see once. My rating would be 6/10.

So if people decide to take 2012 as their deadline then what are they supposed to do? Buy a car of their dreams or enjoy life, all at the expense of LONG TERM LOANS :) he he he he. I am sure all banks will announce that Loans will be provided from 2013 onwards ;). Any comments? Kindly rate my review after reading.
