When I was a little bitty boy
My Grandma gave me a cute little toy
2 silver bells, hanging on a thread
i just called it my Ding-A-Ling<b/b>
This was Chuck Berry at his best. Born in 1926, Chuck started his career in 1953 with John's trio and in 1955 Maybellene was released. A smooth rock and roller, Chuck was influenced by the likes of Nat King Cole and Muddy Waters, but soon moved to play raunch songs with a rock n roll twist to them. Chuck Berry was inducted into the rock n roll hall of fame in the 70s for his persistence with music
This album is a collection of Chuck's greatest songs. The album starts with a number called Johnny B Goode and old blues number, sung with a rollin twist to it, followed by great numbers like Roll Over Beethoven (beatles did a cover version of the same) Maybellene (covered by simon & garfunkel) My Ding a Ling (which hit no 1 in US charts), Sweet Little Sixteen (a knee shaker song!!) and some other good ones too
If you are just kicking off on rock n roll, this is one of the best albums to possess, u will be doing the duck walk by the end of Side A for sure
till next time
Cheers
