Gripping Adrenaline Rush

Plot - Based on the true story of Aron Ralston, an extreme sports fanatic who had to hack off his own arm after it became trapped under a boulder while he explored a canyon in Utah. Simple one line story in a sense but 127 hours is survival time and that makes a real story.

Direction - For me director is everything he/she can make a cr@p script glorious & vice-versa. Boyle’s work I ADMIRE a lot but not Slum one but he got Oscar even Rehman for his not best work.

Boyle, deploying the flashy, hyper-kinetic style of filmmaking that made watching the likes of his earlier best drug based movie Trainspotting still landmark, and now such a rush, turns Ralston’s experience into a terrifically compelling movie. Boyle’s swift camerawork is a perfect fit for adrenaline Ralston when he’s bounding over rocks and sliding down crevice in the early stages of his trip – impressing a pair of female hikers with his daredevilry along the way.

And it’s a way of getting inside his head – expressing his memories, hopes and hallucinations, after his torment begins. Boyle the man isn’t afraid to experiment with implementing his untested themes and style into various genres that makes a master. If u know Aron’s story than movie becomes predictable still Boyle makes you to sit & watch his magic.

Boyle knows this is a tall order, and is forced to improvise, he blitzes us with visions, flashbacks, premonitions, split-screens, and close-up after close-up of Franco’s anxious face. His video captures of the suffering are particularly effective in capturing the horror Ralston was coping with each and every second, right up to his painful final decision.

Boyle also deserves credit for not glorifying the brutal exit method, it’s hard to watch, but not without cause. One of Doyle's most impressive images is in showing how alone Ralston is after he becomes trapped. The vast emptiness around him swallows up his screams for help. The actual amputation took 44 minutes, according to Boyle, and thankfully we get a very cut portrayal of the shocking procedure.. By creating such an intimate and life-affirming portrait of Aron Ralston, Boyle succeeds in his goal of suggesting to viewers that, caught in a similar crisis, perhaps they could also do the unthinkable.

In short masterstroke.Far better than Slum one. Boyle's direction is astonishing throughout, most notably in a jaw-dropping zoom out from Aron's location that illustrates just how thoroughly screwed he is. He also uses a number of flashy editing techniques to keep the action moving, as well as a series of clever and creative camera angles and positions, such as, incredibly, a shot from inside Aron's arm as he sticks the knife in, many more are.

Performance- Franco is terrific as Aron, delivering a remarkable, compelling performance that pulls the audience right into his torment and grips like a vice. In addition, Simon Beaufoy's excellent script allows him moments of dark humour as he talks to himself, e.g. complaining that the urine he is forced to drink is “no Slurpee” and later, as he starts cracking up, improvising a talk show interview with himself.”Mindblowing”.

Franco is up to the challenge, bcz earlier he never got such challenge & turning in a tremendous performance every tic, head movement, and decision feels authentic. His video captures of the ordeal are particularly effective in capturing the horror Ralston was coping with each and every second, right up to his painful final decision.

Whole movie revolving around Franco so all burden on his shoulder & he takes it to another level beyond any awards. He fully persuades as the kind of cheerfully reckless athlete you might envy but would never try to follow.

Background score- Rehman’s best work as background where music should be terrific so that you glued to screen with character’s emotion & rehman succeeds excellently.

Watch 127 hours in 90 minutes or so for Boyle & Franco’s chemistry. Brilliantly directed and featuring a terrific performance from James Franco, this is a gripping real-life drama, & to capture real life into reel is whole team effort.

It is one of the best films of the year, a gritty and winning inspirational story of one man's tough will to live despite the slimmest of odds. Watch it. Won’t regret you will enjoy rush, pain. Go & hit the screens.
