On 14th July 2013, while surfing the internet, I got a pop-up that I had ignored many times earlier, for a chance to win a Samsung Galaxy Tab 750 with a "pay and get a chance to win" offer.
I did that and paid Rs.399. Immediately the amount was debited. Subsequently, I started receiving telephone calls claiming that I was one of the 15 lucky winners out of 1, 00, 000 lucky ones.
If I paid Rs.7, 999 immediately they would ship a computer worth Rs.12, 500 and I would stand a chance to win Samsung Galaxy Tab 750 and that they had credited 399 points to my account that would be redeemed on payment of Rs.7, 999!
This flies in the face of the initial offer - pay and get a chance to win. If I were told that I had not won, it is understandable, but for a company to further bait me to part with Rs.7, 999 for a return of a product of 1/3rd the value of the Samsung Galaxy Tab is highly dubious.
