After so much hype and appreciation from around, I thought of giving try to 100 pipers whiskey. I brought quater for ₹570 which is premium price for average tasting blended whiskey. Colour was light golden which was pleasing and got me into trap of thinking of it as better tasting whiskey than some premium brands in same range. But I was wrong after first sip of drink it gave be jitters and tasted like a lower class whiskey ( like royal challenge or royal stag) which caused fight between by senses, as it had colour of premium whiskey and taste of average whiskey.
After having a small peg of 30ml, I thought of diluting whiskey with soda for smoother experience. But again it shocked me by tasting like a lower class whiskey. Whiskey was not diluting properly and taste got harsher than neat. It was surprising event for my tongue as lower class whiskey ( like blenders and RC) blend better jn soda than the 100 pipers did.
The harshness was prominent even after chilling the drink with ice cubes and the drink at bottom of glass ( last 2-3 sips) were supriaingly harsh tasting ( almost felt like vomiting) .
I would suggest people to not go for 100 pipers as many premium, better tasting and smooth whiskeys are available at cheap prices ( like blackdog and teachers highland cream) which cost around ₹500.
I hope review helps you in buying and enjoying drinks better! CHEERS!
