I use to wonder when scientist use to say that day will come when there will be no remains of Mumbai as it will be submerged under the sea. Scary isn’t it? Yes Not sure of how many more years may be half a century also. Tuesday 26th I saw a trailer for the things to come. You may call it global warming or anything. I am sure theses are the after affects of the earthquake which happened in December which resulted into the dreadful Tsunami. Due to earthquake our earth shifted on its axis and everything changed.
If you remember the winter season was intense, no one ever had seen so much of snow which was seen in Kashmir. Even Vidharbha (Maharashtra) was affected by snowfall. If you see the summer, it was too much many people died because of intense summer waves.
It was horrifying when I came face to face with the rains in Mumbai. No eyes have seen, No mind has conceived a rainfall like this ever before, 2/3 of Mumbai was underwater as the heavens opened its floodgates. There was no stopping for it as the water raised over the head. People trying to rescue themselves from the clutches of water.
All the living beings running, crying and trying to reach a place which is on height to be safe from the running water. It was total Kiosk as no one knew what to do and what was in store for them.
Surely we can’t blame a government because the fact is they were also encountering this for first time. Its true that they would have anticipated it and would have been ready at least to tackle ¾ th of the problem. Its high time to have lot of new technologies in our armory to battle out all these problems. Including a new department of Life Guards, Sea Patrolling, Disaster prevention techniques and lots more. Mumbai being the financial capital, its very necessary to upgrade the standards of this city or the people who invest in Mumbai will always face a big question mark “Is It Safe”
