then in that case, those Idiot are all in the tata's Worli show room in Poonam chambers. the one that only has vehicals for export. Go and check it out. me and my associates were part of the team that lobbied with the tata ceo about the air-bags. in one of their meets. The airbags like I said are... a recent introduction. Rear vision camera is just a bloody amenity. the features that I’ve been talking about are more on the lines of adequate power trains, limited slip differentials for proper off-roading and dynamic load sensing for good traction on slippery surfaces. (also traction control etc..) these are the things that tata has in models abroad. and don’t offer them here. Im getting quite tired making this point over and over again. Maybe they are right to supply you blockheads with watered down cars. since none of you can really see beyond flashy trimms any which way. I’m quite Done. Ramse~Read More

if they have introduced a version with the air bags, then its been a very recent development. The last we checked with the guys at tata, we bombarded them with these very same questions, and that’s the reason probably why they have introduced the version with the Airbags. Which is a good sign. Se...condly, there is no law that says DIESEL engines cannot be more powerful. More over, one must always remember that an adequately powered engine will only make the car more fuel-efficient. And there are a few of us who don’t mind buying high power petrol cars as well. But all these personal agendas are not the point at all! I know many of you may be very cushy about your underpowered safari’s and other locally manufactured vehicles, but the point I'm trying to make is that every manufacturer in the world believes in making all the models they sell, available in their own country as well. But here in India, even an enthusiast who wishes to buy a vehicle of his or her own choice and is willing to pay the price for it, simply can not buy a vehicle being manufactured in their own country just because of some hair-brained company policy. Now I know our government does have some pretty screwed up policies when it comes to cars in India, but that does not mean that the local companies cant offer their products on a per order basis. A good example of this is our very own Maruti Udog.. The Gypsy (which is a very successful High powered Petrol car), and happens to be one of the best SUV’s in the Country (even better than a Ford Endevour – off road) is no longer available in the open market. And is only available to the army and for export. But if a customer wishes to own one, he or she can still order one and it will be custom built for that individual. At a slightly premium cost, but the request will not declined, unlike the Tatas and mahindras (among others), who tend to play this cloak and dagger routine that aggravates auto ehthusiasts like us.Read More

First of all, this is only 10% the governments fault. Second, the problem is not that we aren't getting good imported cars. -- We are! The problem is that our local manufacturers don’t deem it necessary to make the same models that they sell over seas available here in India. You cant expect p...eople to believe that companies like Skoda and Honda can sell and service world class cars here in India without even batting an eyelid (which are Incidentally much more difficult to service and maintain than even the best TATA or Mahindra car), while Indian car companies cant sell the Good cars that they manufacture for other countries in our local markets because of Service issues and Government policies??? Wake up guys.. Even if the cost did go up, and even If you were willing to pay the price, they still would not sell their export models here. There’s a TATA show room in Mumbai, where Indians are not allowed to check out cars Because they are only meant for export !!!!! This is Bullshit! I am willing to pay the price. Yet I cant buy a model being manufactured in my own country! If this is not a something worth fighting for, I don’t know what is! Read More

First of all, no body’s comparing cars here. And even if we were to compare, the Safari is just 2 lakhs less than a ford endeavour.. And 12 lakhs for an SUV is not somthing that a middle class family can afford. I think the point of this comment is that local companies like tata and Mahindra have ...models available abroad that you cant buy here in India. Did you know that even if you were willing to pay the price, you cannot buy a Safari with Air bags? even though it is being made in India (for export)? I have nothing against Country specific marketing. but if they can sell models abroad, why the heck cant they be available to Indians who want it and are willing to pay the price??? Especially if it’s an Indian Brand.Read More

The world is a safer place for drivers these days as most cars come pre-fitted with air-bags, ABS and traction-control (basically, stuff that makes it safer to play chicken on the road). Except that is if you plan on buying one of our local brands. It would seem as though the pride and joy of ou...Read more

Hondas are Great.. Just that the new Honda City's is an accident waiting to happen.. (and they have had a few). If you doubt my integrity, check it out for your self. Try the Ford Fiesta, or the Old Honda City, or the Accord, or the Skoda RS, or any other car that performs well, and compare its dyn...amic instability to that of the city. Believe me, there’s no personal Vendetta here.. Even the main test driver of Honda Asia region agrees on this, but refused to be quoted. This is one of those stories that no one wants to write or talk about. The rest of course is a matter of how much risk one would like to live with. But all I say is, there are many cars in India that are more fun to drive, have a lot more performance, corner better, are more dynamic to power slide with and have a whole lot more control-able instability then the new Honda City. And among these cars is the old Honda city Vtech. Note: the New Honda Cities are the only Honda cars to be totally designed and tested in Taiwan. Read More
