Great Body Canon EOS 400D
It is 28-135 IS USM and it cost me around 25K 450 D is 12 MP and also have live view and LCD is larger. I have used it and it is amzing. Another goof starting SLR from Canon. Even the kit lend 18-55IS (Different from 18-55 kit lens of EOS 400D) is good.
The optical zoom term is used with Non SLR cameras. In Canon you will find Optical Zoom from 4X to 12X in lens shutter cameras. In SLR zooming depends on the type of lens you are using. Maxiumum right now is 600mm, which I have seen.
