The actual title should have been the torture lol

Does anyone know which genre this book falls under.? I know - boredom. this book might be good to a more mature crowd and should not be assigned to innocent students as a torturous  assignment. if I was asked to plot a narrative diagram, it would have been just a straight line.!

To avoid monotony in reading, I stopped at R K Narayan’s list and after reading a few synopsis, ordered ‘The English Teacher’. Moreover, I was interested to read him for the first time. I was soon alarmed when I did some more research on net to find out that this is the third part of triology by...Read More

I have always been a big fan of R.K Narayan's works for his originality, sincerity and raw sense of humour.I picked this book thinking I would expecting the same, but I must say I was a little disappointed. This book is not very RKN, the very concept of an average english teacher making conta...Read More

This book is the best I've read so far. Being Indian and also being able to relate to the circumstances and feeling of the author, I think had an even stronger impact. I love the part where he mentions the British government and cultural impositions have turned us into a nation of cultural moron...Read More

The book opens with a brief account of the English teacher's regular day. Krishna (the teacher) instantly becomes likeable. R.K. Narayan aptly describes his characters and not just are they well defined, they are also very real. I won’t go into the story because that is for you to read. Wh...Read More

This book is an authentic R. K. Narayan work. This, probably, is my third and last attempt to pen a successful review on this book.
