I too had an LSI V2 (2002 April to 2005 Jan)and had exhaust( white) smoke was coming at speeds above 80 kms/hr and TELCO could not resolve it after numnerous visits. Beware of this issue. this problem came after 1.5 yrs of usage and there were other problems like silencer crack 2 times, engine mount... issue. Could not use it for high way trips much because of this smoke issues.finally i sold it to Ford and got an Ikon flair. So my message is Lsi is good initially and in the long run it sucks..Also the power got reduced after 9 months of usage. Engine was not at its best performance-wise. Ride quality is not great. But it was stable on high ways. Mileage was not great although it is average and AC was not very effective.Read More

Hi Claver, Can you throw some lights on how much you are spending for a service and any other maintenance cost you are incurring on ikon?

My car was out of Bangalore for last 8 months. Was in Chennai. Anyway it does not make any difference to share the latest info on Ikon flair as even in Chennai I was driving in pathetic roads because of heavy rains(more than Bangalore). I made a trip to Pondicherry from Chennai under severe rainy c...onditions. Also I drove after not using the vehicle for 1 month. The management fuse went off and the car stopped. I was stranded in a village some 30kms away from Pondicherry. I called up MPL ford and they came to that spot very fast. They changed the fuse and said it may be because of some adulteration in petrol. I thought because of rain some water must have entered the engine. But not the case. I went again on a long trip under severe rainy conditions and vehicle started jerking and pick up was low. Some how managed to reach home. Next day went to MPL Ford in Chennai and they checked Spark plug, HT cable and petrol tank and finally found that adultered petrol is the culprit(it had some water) and I still don't know how it happened. So, they cleaned the tank, added System G additive and put fresh petrol. Now I have taken back to Bangalore and it is doing great. One problem is it is not that reliable in rainy conditions and other could be that I did not use the car much, as I was in Bangalore but the car was in chennai. Other possibility is i got adultered petrol from one the highway bunks......still not clear.....let me see for some more days and update....Read More

I was a owner of Indica V2(LSi- petrol) for 3 years and wanted to buy a mid-size car as I wanted a more comfortable, reliable, fuel efficient, powerful car more suitable for long journeys as I do long trips once a month. I was thinking about Maruti Esteem first. So, test drove it. It was powe...Read more

I owned an Indica petrol and disposed it recently and bought a Ford Ikon. I got fed up with recursive problems of Indica and service which was poor. With all these you loose your peace of mind. I hope FORD Ikon won't give so much problems like indica and no other service can be as bad as Tata's. So...rry if I had hurt Tata car owners. Its just that I feel bad after owning Indica for 3 years..Read More
