Hi Since we didn't have any time at all (we planned for 1st May and this rascal cancelled us on 31st April) we had to book in hurry and moreover no room was available ! So we booked in Masinagudi instead of Bandipur and that was a actually a blessing in disguise. Masinagudi is far pleasant and ca...lm place compared to Bandipur and chances of watching wildlife is much more. It's actually in Tamilnadu, around Modumalai forest, just in the bottom of the Ooty Mountain. Just after 2 kms the 36 hairpin bend road to Ooty starts. It's around 40 Km far from the Bandipur and can be covered in 1 hour. Also you don't have to pay the heavy road tax (Rs 800), since you are not entering Ooty - just Rs 20/30 for the tax. We stayed in Jain Resort (http://www.jainresort.com/), one of the finest experiences we ever had. The owner is Mr. Dhanraj (a billionaire) - very descent person, the cooks and servants are equally descent and honest. You will get real home made foods in real test and hygienic condition. They will actually cook as per your order! They charged Rs 750 per day per person (twine sharing) excluding food and lunch/dinner each was Rs 80 per head. The resort is veryyyyy big, surrounded by forest. Dears, mongoose, rabbits, pigs etc easily get into this resort from all the four sides. The view from the resort is also majestic. There are not many rooms, they are renovating it, but all the rooms are clean and properly maintained. For the early Jeep Safari in Bandipur you can easily come there if you start at 5am at Masinagudi. Also you can move in your car in the night in the roads for wildlife watching. I highly recommend Jain Resort. Hope this helps everybody. N.B. I should also mention that we have found some resorts like Tuskar Trail, Tiger Ranch etc in Bandipur who are also located in very cool places. They can be also chosen easily.Read More

This review is actually for "Bandipur Plaza Resort and its proprietor Bineesh A Paul. I had a very bad experience with Bineesh Paul - please stay away from this person. I booked a double bed room at Rs 750 per day per person for two of us for 1st May 2009. I deposited the money in his account...Read more
