Don, Not offended at all, am not giving attitude either, so take it easy with '?' I am simply replying to your post made out to be complexed with technicalities that are plausible because the strands of the varied models in the Indian RD350 spread the specifications and performance apart. As you ...mention the carby's, later parts, low torque all contributed to a subdeud RD. Hence my suggestion that if you do find a finer example/earlier and in exceptional nik then it will be the tuning and tweeking capabilities as well as the riding capabilites that will determine what the bike can achieve. As far as all the four stroke and two stroke mechanics are concerned of course the era and technology restricted certain aspects and thats how it was no reason to be offended if it was a negative sometimes as many negatives as a kawasaki KLX 500 2 stroke had but it is a pure rocket and people love it for its harshness.... the RS 250 Aprillia is a prime example of 2 stroke technology development and with mordern ad ons such as CDI'S, fuel injection a lot of those can be controlled.....take it easyRead More

donthepirate, Don I understand where you are coming from but, yes the first ever RD350's were esembled in India and they were the real deals I would refuse to buy anyother version in India. They need an expert timing and tuning combo, and 95% of them out there are not running the correct stroke ...so you wouldnt even know what rear wheel BHP it is putting out...SO sadly you will never experience the real deal and sondurmadan the same can be said for your response, if you wish to constantly time and tune your bike to run it to perfection it adds to the thrill but takes the fun factor away to a degree and as fas as 0-60pmh is concerned I will suggest you do your homework first hand. Don!..before you type.....Read More

Buy an early example, 1983 high tourque.. Low kms knowing an RD350 nut helps if they have a mechaincal engineering degree even better. Time it, tune it & service it regulalruy to enjoy the full aspect and extraction of power. Respect it because it will send you for a spill, I have been for on...Read more
