unga review padichchaen, enna dhaan solla vareenga? I don't favor any of the actors, but ur review is useless and only adds to the bad hype that already the movie was enjoying.. may be u chose the opportunity to comment on this film to draw ppl's attention to Thalaivar.. whatever it may be, I'm able... to write and write well too, pity mouthshut doesn't give me enough space nor more than 1 comment for a movie, so I'd to accommodate the rest of my comments in reviews.. if u mistake them for comments on my own review u r completely mistaken my friend.. I sympathise with you too..Read More

Hi Buddy, I perfectly respect ur views.. they are yours. I'd mentioned I do not require your feedback on my review, yet thanks for your courtesy in responding in my review. One point I liked in your review, core Kamal fans have been let down, but unfortunately I or any one else in my crowd couldn't ...feel the movie was worth the $36 = INR 1260+effort+time that we spent to see the movie. I should have been glad to wait the DVD to watch the movie, atleast expense would have been less. I felt sick, cheated and my views are an outcome of that. You cannot compare this movie with neither the serious ones nor the commercial ones filmed by Kamal, in this one he should ONLY have acted, may be it'd have been okay..Read More

Again the so-called Hindus have kept quiet and have chosen to accept / shrug it off and move on. Gradually, TamBrams will have to move out of TN, if this trend continues and seek shelter across other states. And Kamal has done no better than the person mentioned above, he has re-kindled an area that... had laid low for a great period of time and has been a forgotten past. I guess, the sensible current generation may not take this up further but there is no telling how people’s minds work and whatever the outcome, the beneficiaries won’t be the Hindus. It will become the monkey as in cat vs cat + Appam case.Read More

By far, from the ancient times till date, Hinduism has been passive to other religions encroaching on it and on its followers. There have been radicals/extremists, but they were very very few compared to the passive ones, who were willing to share and sacrifice and sustain the Hindu philosophy than ...those who were brave enough to indulge in violence to sustain the Hindu religious beliefs and philosophy. Essentially it may have helped to root out meaningless, repetitive customs and practices and helped the religion keep pace with the changes going through the world and helping in altering the religion to suit the modified beliefs and to keep in pace. But what has not been good is that, the sects of the religion, divided and sub-divided as Iyers, Iyengars, then on to the self-preached Vadakalai, Thenkalai, Brahacharanam, Soothras classifications, have let other religions impact them each and every day, while the majority of the core Hindu-s believe that shrugging this dust and moving on is the only way to survive and are slowly exposing the strong core to such erosive objects/thoughts. That’s why certain people living in this centuries old earth only in the last 75 years or so, have managed to change City names, Hindu calendars & festivals as what they deemed was best or best understood by themselves and not bothered to consult that particular religion's scholars before altering them to suit their beliefs or political needs OR BEST TO IMPOSE THEIR SUPERIORITY on a passive crowd.Read More

I am scared just by one thing, that this movie will really be a BIG HIT, because of the numerous negative comments floating by. People may flock to the theatres and buy DVDs to watch and comment on the movie with knowledge, in order not to feel left-out in the loops of conversations going around. So...me of the film industry budding directors, producers and actors may also like to buy and possess the DVD as a collector’s item and to watch it from time to time and remind themselves on WHY/HOW not to make such a film and even if they do, WHY not to have Kamal(s) as the Hero(es).Read More

We do not expect all movies to be passive towards religious beliefs or handle with care the fragile customs and beliefs of certain religions, but when you choose to do so you have to handle them delicately and ensure you do not hurt the sentiments. Doesn't mean that if the God's statue was handled l...ike a toy, it throws the beliefs to the winds or affects the purity of a particular religion etc For all you know, the statue may have been made by the hands of a sect of people the hard-core Iyers/Iyengars consider as lowly, throw them to the lions for that. But if Kamal wants to prove some point or is bent on breaking free these kind of chains, he has to come forth and answer his perspectives. If Kamal had intended this movie to be entertainment, he could have chosen hell a lot of other stories, built some logic here and there and included a lot of scope for humour and used good cinematographic effects. He would have achieved his goal of 10 roles, an entertainment for his trusted audience for min 2.5 hrs, a chance for other actors to have played some good roles in the movie, probably an award or 2, provided work scope for N number of people and could have swum in bhayanghara collection. Instead he wanted something to be selfishly revolving around himself, he wanted himself to be seen in different masks throughout the movie. It is so selfish of him. He could have adorned 40-50 different masks and made a movie full of Kamals only and played Asin’s and Jayapradha’s role also instead of having other actors, at least he can save on Actors’ fee, satisfying the Producer. If he only wanted to make money, he can charge the producer for each of the Kamals in the movie.Read More

A friend mentioned: In fact, there were some Hindu groups, which raised a hue and cry after seeing the trailer of the movie. They tried stalling the release of the movie saying that a few scenes in the movie hurt the Hindu sentiments deeply. But what happened to them after the release? No noise nor ...voice. I think they would have realised that their fears were only misguided. Hey Boy tell me, some thing. Had this kind of movie been taken with the religion of question been any other, other than Hinduism - can u imagine what would have happened? The movie wouldn’t have been released at all or may have been released amidst 1000 fears. Kamal and his new family would have required, ex-CIA protection imported from the U.S. Let’s assume, the groups you mentioned they are wise, what’s the point in fighting against something that you don’t want to be released, after it has been released and seen by scores of people. What’s to be achieved by then?Read More

The camera / multimedia / graphic effects in the movie fell apart at the seams.. it was as if I’d tried to fit couple of images over each other in Paint brush.. Guys, please look up to Hollywood or at least follow their path.. hey.. not that way, you are going to the past..yeah, this way.. can someo...ne please tell the graphic fx team they are moving backward.. this film’s graphics cannot even be compared with graphics seen in 2D cartoon films in Cartoon Network / Pogo.. sorry they are much much better.. Kamal should watch couple of simple movies to understand bit about logic, sequencing in movies using multimedia and visual effects etc. May be all his hard core fans could pool in some cash and send him for a full complete multimedia course at some renowned insitute and ensure he learns the perspectives, art, structure, sequencing, rendering etc and makes a complete movie himself before he launches on to his next commercial movie.Read More

About Napolean playing some Chola king’s role, I was appalled by the quality of his Thamizh.. he might as well have spoken in Chennai Tamil or Madras Baashai. His pronunciation of words like “Sootshumam” “Laktshiyam” were embarrassing, he was ra-p-ing Tamil by using the words as “soochumam” and “lac...hchiyam” – if the King pronounced this way, his subjects were definitely no better than him. Well, coming to another portion of the movie. Unlike the books and movie DaVinci code which raised a hue & cry in many devout Christian families which forbade their children from reading the novel or watching the movie, as they firmly believed the author had done some injustice to Christianity on the whole. Unlike the above case, no family has barred their children from watching Dasaavathaaram. What Kamal wants to achieve by scratching open the temporarily healed cuts between Iyers & Iyengars is to be waited and watched for, but he has not been open to state the need of that part in the movie. If its only to create a role for Kamal and to link it with the so-called climax, its absurd. Because on the other hand he is also caught on-screen saying “Tsunami was good and it arrived in time to add NaCl (another something that Bush did not know) to the disastrous virus that was supposedly released by Fletcher biting in to the vial.Read More

Bush, semma style, just like Super Star getting up from the swing/chair in Padaiyappa, good but dumb as usual. Bush edhukku India-ku varraaru, no reason why he should visit India and have a presentation with Mu Ka and Manmohan Singh, makkal-a indha maadhiri edhukku-nu thalai mudi-ya pudungittu yosik...ka vekkirar Kamal. Why were Manmohan Singh/Jayalalitha/Mu Ka there in the movie for a few seconds each? Political satisfaction or showing range? Or were they Kamals in disguise? Aw shucks, I missed the extra 3 Kamals.. Shingen Narahashi, whoever guessed Lord Narasimma may have originated in Japan.. a loving brother comes to visit his sister’s home and exclaims “thangachi, seththuttiyemaa” in Jap accent.. I felt so Japanese sad in that scene.. me being an Indian how can I feel like Jap.. if a Jap can learn Tamil the moment he lands in Chennai, so can we.. btw, Narasahi or Narahasi is an avatar, ummaachchiya onnum solla koodaadhu, kanna kuththidum.. mooch!!Read More

The language used by Chris (Fu*ker) sorry (Fl)etchai sorry Chris Fletcher, the ex-CIA thug was harder for me to comprehend than that of the old Americans/ Australians that I get to meet in my projects here. May be he was speaking in short-hand, I have not learnt that. Mallika Sherawat, Asin, Jayap...radha – all three did not have any useful role in the movie.. Avtaar Singh could have come on his own for the show.. Chris Fletcher could have had an unsuspecting Indian aide who could have been terminated later and Asin could have been avoided entirely with a sensible character who would not babble through out her scenes.. OR Kamal could have played these roles and if he had, then he could have added some masala on those 3 Kamal roles and dressed in an exposing way for masala for the audience and avoided showing heroines being amukkifying by him on-screen, anyway there were no such scenes.. instead he could have amukkified them behind the scenes.. which nevertheless he might have..Read More

The characters that stood out or which I liked were, Balaram Naidu and Vincent Poovaragan. Balaram Naidu, however kept reminding me of the “Chinna kallu, bedtha laabam – bedtha kallu, chinna laabam” character in Panchathanthiram movie, nevertheless it was well done. These 2 characters in 10avatar mo...vie kind of stood out. Avataar Singh (north-indian singer) singing in pure sen-thamizh using words like “maanudan” to refer to mankind was just too much to take. The islam family, why were they ALL there in the movie, it could instead have been Kalif-ullah crossing the road alone to get hurt in the accident. There were a lot of extra chars in the movie, poor souls. Avtaar Singh’s medicine box – if he ate so many medicines – he need not have food at all.. well, his medicine box getting switched in the elevator, old trix.. moreover avtaar singh’s medical condition may have been due to his nose swollen at the top, the make-up man’s fault..Read More
