Hi Siddhartha, HDFC refunded the amount after they did their own investigation which they took 4 months to conclude and they never revealed who the culprit was. But my assessment is that it was an ’inside job’. I got a replacement credit card also. Strangely, I have hesitated to use this card till t...oday. My advice to you is that two-tier security is very good for all cards but if someone in the Bank security division is a "bad apple' it is going to ruin "the whole basket of apples". For 2010, this year has started with a fraudulent transaction on my credit card. The card is HDFC Bank Credit card and I have a Verified by Visa (VBV)/ SecureCode password which was mandated in August 2009 by RBI. This has not stopped someone from doing a fraudulent transaction on my credit card and... it was used for an online transaction on Yatra online Pvt. Ltd two days back for Air Ticket. As soon as I got the sms of the transaction I called the bank and blocked my card and I also went to the Cyber crime Police station and got the police compliant acknowledged by the Sr. Inspector of police of the cyber Police station. I am now waiting for the bank to respond for them to refund the transaction which i anticipate to be a long wait. How do I get to inform the general public about this misuse?Read More
