Thanks for liking my review. Niflisk has some very durable models. Most of Niflisk's models get employed in the industry. But some are equally usable under domestic environments. Bosch and Karcher also have very good models. Eureka-Forbes' Euroclean is OK, provided you have regular supply of disposa...ble bags. Panasonic has one model with good power.Read More

Thank you for liking my review. Please have a look at Panasonic MC-CG303. Unlike its sibling MC-CG-304, it does not have variable power, and is therefore priced lower. You would be able to get it with good discount on Flipkart & Infibeam. Please note that the model in question uses a cloth dust-...bag, and therefore you have to be ready for the maintenance mess once in a while depending upon how often you use your vacuum cleaner. Spare cloth bags can be ordered from Panasonic Service Centres, or bought online from third party manufacturers. If you can stretch your budget, Karcher T7/1 too is an excellent option. Finally, one review on domestic R.O. water purifiers that made sense! I was the owner of an Aquaguard Nova for about five years, and then a Honeybee R.O. purifier for another five, but really did not know much about choosing one. I am again in the market for buying a new R.O. purifier, and the sales... pitch about four-stage, five-stage, seven-stage, and even eight-stage purification gave me a headache. Without going into the jargon, you dealt the essentials well. Thanks.Read More

Hi Jukana, I was trying to go through Rod Elliot's webpages on Wethost, to understand as to how the pressure mode works. But even he had not come to any definitive conclusions here, as to at what point that starts operating: http://sound.westhost.com/subcon.htm So how does the 'pressure mo...de' work? As far as headphones are concerned, I 'think' I hear deep bass from the headphones. But I may not be sure whether my thinking real, or I am only hearing harmonics (the rest being filled up by my brain). I guess one way to prove things would be to measure the respective frequencies with an SPL meter, and I saw a statement in this Wikipedia article which says, 'Good headphones, with a good seal to the ear, can have an extremely flat low-frequency response down to 20 Hz within 3dB.' : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Headphones How does human ear / body perceive pressure-mode? Do we 'hear' it, or do we just 'feel' it? If smaller speakers can create the 'pressure-mode' to give us the bass, why use 10' drivers & 12' drivers in cars to generate bass? Won't that lead too much of a 'pressure'?Read More

Prof, Saggi & DiptiB, Sorry about not responding immediately. I do not have an idea, as to what sized speakers the Chevrolet Spark takes, and where are the mounts. I suggest DiptiB to visit any international Chevy Spark forum online. I am sure she will find relevant information there. If th...e mounts are the same as its older version, the Daewoo Matiz, then there is this www.mymatiz.com. Among the Indian sites, Team BHP is a very good site. As for Saggi's question, the PMPO wattage specified on the speakers is meaningless ! Assuming that you are keen on the volume, even in terms of volume out put, there will be very little difference between a 220 W speaker and a 350 W PMPO speaker. Prof. can very well go with the Blaupunkt setup. All I can say is do not go by the wattages. Please listen to the music, and convince yourself that it sounds authentic!Read More

Hi Jukana, Logged into Mouthshut after quite sometime, and saw your just posted comments. Thank you very much for sharing your thoughts. My thoughts: When you are saying 'pressure-mode', you are probably referring to the 'tactile stimuli' bass waves produce. Yes, there are people who stil...l turn on their subwoofers while hearing to music through their headphones, for that 'tactile' effect (the bass 'hits' you..!) caused due to the pressure of the sound waves. Butt-kickers installed in cinema theatres for bass, work purely through tactile stimuli (vibrations conveyed through butts). When a complete sound wave reaches your ears, you 'hear' the sound. Any sound wave is a pressure wave, not just bass. Sound waves are longitudinal waves, and so would have a wavelength. The wavelength will be the distance between two regions of compression. To clearly hear the 'note' of the sound wave, two successive compressed regions of air have to reach your tympanium 'in phase'. I do not think this is possible in a car. When pressure of the sound waves reaches skin of the body, or 'out of phase' at the tympanium, you would 'feel' the pressure waves (what you call as 'pressure mode'), but you would not accurately 'hear' the note, especially when vibrating metal is around you, and not solid walls. Yes, a butt-kicker would be a better idea in a car to create tactile stimuli of bass!Read More

The End I initially wrote this review two years back, and made suitable changes to it when I felt it apt. I was amongst the first few to write a review on the Zee Dish TV. However, after my repeated failures in the efforts to get timely redressals from the Zee Dish TV Customer Care, and after ...feeling humiliated and harassed by the pathetic, sarcastic and abrasive replies I got for my perfectly reasonable, and polite requests to them to address my complaints (after paying full money to them), I call it quits. If I had a gun, and if I had a chance, I would have preferred to shoot the Zee Dish TV Customer Care fellows in their head for their behaviour. Because I am not in a position to do that, I call it quits!Read More

I have been doing some research of my own on this model since the last week of February, 2007. Your review has appeared at the right time. Just some questions: 1.) Are you sure that this is a 100 Hz TV? Can you point out to some resources on the web where such a thing is mentioned. If it is a ...100 Hz TV, then whether the commonly known problem of pixelization in case of moving images (which is an artifact of the 50 Hz -> 100 Hz conversion), is taken care of in this case? 2.) How is the progressive scan on this TV, when attached to a higher end progressive scan DVD player? Will be grateful for any information.Read More

In the queue now are the country's fifth and sixth DTH entrants, Anil Ambani's Reliance Blue Magic, and Sunil Mittal's Bharti Telemedia. Both hold L.o.I.s from the I&B Ministry. ISRO expressed its inability to cater to the needs of these players earlier to the end of 2008 on its INSAT-4 series of... satellites. The alternatives could be foreign regional satellites with India beams, some already in orbit. Reliance Bluemagic and Bharti Telemedia have each sought eight transponders to start with. When these DTH services start, India will have the largest number, of six DTH operators (DD, Zee Dish TV, TATA-SKY, Sun DTH, Reliance Bluemagic, Bharti Telemedia). Videocon, yet another aspirant, has started making initial inquiries.Read More

My experience with Airtel in Hyderabad has been very pleasant. I am a non-techie, and I use the web mainly for reading news and articles, and for checking my email. I do not download movies and the other multi-megabyte content. So I opted for the Rs.499/- plan, where the maximum speed is 64 kbps...., with no download limit, and no rental for the internet. The phone line comes with 120 free outgoing calls, with unlimited free calls to one pre-specified number. It is working out very well for me. My interaction with Airtel customer care personnel too has been very pleasant (so far), and they call back to enquire about how I feel about their service. They have also promised me that whenever I feel the need for cross-migration to the plans with higher speeds, they would do it in a day without any further procedures.Read More

htnakirs, I own two inkjet printers. The first is an Epson C-45, and it uses black & white (T038), and colour (T039) cartridges in pairs. I use this as my PC's printer. The second one is a Samsung SF-341P faxjet, which I primarily use as a home fax machine. This is a B&W inkjet, and uses a... cartridge called M-40. I think Epson C-45 is a good product, but for the chip placed in the cartridge that tells you that the cartridge is empty when 30% ink is still remaining, and will not allow you to print any more unless you replace the cartridge with a new one. When I naively dialed Epson's 'Dial A Cartridge' for the first time, there was no response. When I tried the second time, a guy called Satish in their call-centre was rude, and almost told me to get lost. Fortunately, I found a Russian freeware called 'SSC Service Utility', which fools most Epson cartridges such that old cartridges can be freely refilled. I also found high quality, cheaper replacement cartridges for Epson, made by reputed third parties such as Amkette and sold for as low as Rs.160/-, such that the need for refilling does not arise in the first place. After my experience with the Epson's Dial-A-Cartridge and my subsequent exposure to the third-party cartridges, I vowed that I will never buy an Epson cartridge in my life again, and I have been successful so far. But my woes with Samsung still continue. Each original cartridge is Rs.1300/-., and third-party cartridge is Rs.1100/-. The cartridge either dries or gets exhausted in no time. I want to try the refilling route for this faxjet. In this light, do you think that it is an O.K proposition for a novice like me to attempt this kind of thing? What are the equipment I would need to do this? Can you suggest a decent brand of B&W inkjet ink for this purpose, and where I may get it? Regards, kspv.Read More

Sunil, I do not have exposure to Polk Audio's car-speakers. I listened to their home-theatre systems at the Pro-FX showroom on M.G.Road, Bangalore, and they sounded O.K., but not outstanding. I heard Boston Acoustics (both the car & home-theatre setups) at Audio / Auto Planet, Koramangala. S...-45 should do well as your front mount. IT.Techie, You can opt for the combination of JBL CS2104 / GTO426/ GTO427 in the front + JBL GTO936e / GTO937 in the rear. Sunil, While it is possible to add extra tweeters, you will also be needing electronic cross-overs (one for each tweeter) to do this. According to me, you would not ne...ed extra tweeters if your main speakers are good.Read More
