I have covered around 13000 kms in my Corsa (1.4 GSi) in the last 1.5 yrs. Almost 85% of this has been on the highways (Bangalore - Pune, Bangalore - Mysore, etc). I find the car to be amazingly stable even at 140 Kms per hour. ( I have always overtaken ford ikons and fiestas as well ...accents and Aveos :) )
And regarding ground clearance, I agree that it is low. But we may ave to blame the unscientific way the speed breakers ( road humps) are laid.
I have no issues with the milage as it has always given me in the range of 14 to 16 with out A/c. I use 'System- G' petrol additive, as advised by the GM people, along with normal petrol to get better milage. As you reside in Bangalore, try the SHELL petrol pump to get good quality and quantity of petrol. Also, make sure that the air pressue is 29 PSI on all the tyres before you start your journey.
