also checkout the wheelbase of both cars in the specs, a longer wheelbase in the wagonR implies that rear passengers have more legroom.

hi Baptu, thanks for the feedback. Estilo is a cute car but its sales have never really been something to talk about. I guess , coz maruti marketing was confused about it in first place, they named it zen estilo to start with, then probably rechristened it just to make it seem that it is the new est...ilo.. i mean though estilo is quite a cute looking car and is liked by the ladies alot. if i was buying a car solely to be driven by a lady i would have considered estilo or i10 . But for me wagonR signifies practicality , i mean its just so easy to get -in and get-out . The same would not be possible for an estilo without some good head banging with the low roof height at rear. So if if you need space for occasional airport runs, height to load tall articles like furniture,(may be once in a year) and yet be happy with the package barring its boring looks, I would buy WagonR anyday..i cant bargain practicality with looks, coz once you buy estilo , the looks will eventually wear on you...but as the car gets oldet and gets dented here and there , the practicality factor would still remain. The company sells it cheaper coz the company has been unsuccessful in selling it in first place and just wants it to make look attractive to potential buyers... count the no. of wagonRs vs estilos that you see on road and judge for yourself..Volumes speak for themselves You would have trouble selling an estilo 5-7 years down the line compared to a wagonR coz people would still buy it for..SPACE !... regards. Dear jineesh_mj, thanks for your appreciation. i'm glad that my review helped you in decision making regarding your purchase. if you drive long distances typically >50kms, then you should think about Duo, otherwise wagonR Petrol would be fine for you. Do remember however, there is 10-15% less pow...er output in a DUO variant.Hope that helps.Read More

Dear anandhosur, I would like to reassure you about mileage, coz I was equally concerned about same . It will easily give you 15 kms in a city that is not very congested though alot depends on the driving style, I didnt race the engine and kept rpm below 2000rpms for the first 1000kms. Till date i h...ave covered 2000kms and the mileage has somewhat stabilised , I am getting 14 -14.5 easy in Delhi traffic.Read More

Hi anandhosur, Thanks for your query,. My experience with the NEW K-series WagonR 2010 is very satisfactory so far. With a Maruti product Im Assured , that no matter where I am in India, there’s a service centre nearby, but its not the case with TATA. to add further Ihavent heard much praise TATA's p...etrol engines. The Vista Saffire may be good only as far as Space goes, but thats about it. A maruti would retain its value even after 8-10 years and WagonR is a very good example. So If its a petrol engine that you want, I wouldnt recommed Vista Saffire Petrol. The Wagon R will keep you happy with its Mileage 14.5 overall in city and 18-19 on highway. Plus you would enjoy that it requires almost Nothing on maintenance.Hope I have answered your queryRead More

Dear arvindipr ,I have become used to the new car really well, the pickup lag whatsoevr doesnt bother me ,infact i donot find much difference coz ultimately I just need a car to drive from pointA toB and which is easy to turn/park/negotiate tight spaces,Moreover I am a safe driver and I want to stic...k to this car for another 7-8 years so Mileage is What matters to me and i am very happy coz it returns me 15kmpl..Hope I have answered your query.Read More

Hi arvindipr, thanks for your appreciation. Estilo is fine coz you get the same engine in it,and it is better looking ,no Doubt. But at the same time Estilo misses out on 2 key areas, Rear Legroom is lesswith a wheelbase of 2360 against 2400 of the wagonR ,meaning it is more cramped at rear. secondl...y , ergonomics are average , though it looks like mini innova, try getting into the rear seat without the roof hitting upon the side of your head. Third, I guess is resale value, Definitely UP for WagonR !! Hope I 've answered your queryRead More

Dear harish, Congrats on your purchase. The ARAI mileage is under test conditions is possibly the best mileage .Real life mileage is 3-4 kms less than the ARAI rating depending on the driving conditions. ARAI basically protects consumers from misleading and tall claims by some manufacturers, For exa...mple ARAI rating of Ford Figo petrol is 15.5 , in real life , it gives11-12. Similarly the case with wagonR. RegardsRead More

Dear sandeepwa, Thanks for your comments, Your query is actually common to many people. I’’ll answer it comprehensively. The Ritz has a wonderful engine, No Doubt About it ,its fun to drive vehicle in city and highway both. With its unique looks it evokes mixed emotions Now Sandeep if Engine and pick...up is what matters most to you, then go for the Ritz without second thoughts, WagonR should not be matched with the 1.2 on performance. BUT Here’’s my personal comparison of the 2 cars: 1) I feel Ritz is Overpriced for the kit it offers in Vxi , Dint want to spend 5L+ on a hatch, wanted manageable EMI.If Ritz is a replacement of the wagonR throughout the world ,then should have been priced close to wagonR,not with a 70-80K difference.Lxi is always Bare-bones in a maruti but wanted all features For me space and practicality was important which was at par. Vehicle Design 2) Look close at the vehicle design, WagonR has infact more legroom than ritz, thanks to its longer wheelbase.WagonR is more maneuverable in tight spots coz the sides are flat. The Ritz on the other hand is wider(same dimension as swift)and can seat 3 better. The EXTRA width combined with pronounced wheelarch creates a hugh disadvantage for Indian roads. Not only does the car gets scratched easily on the sides, it does so repeatedly.(Same with the Swift, Note the no. of Swift/Ritz that are scratched on sides near the wheelarch) Pure Judgement is of little help in the ritz while reversing coz the chunky C-pillar blocks the view 3) The Roof of ritz slopes down at back ,it may hit the head while getting in, a relative design mistake. 4)Last, Resale- WagonR and alto are segment leaders, I am assured that after 6-7years ,it would still retain 40%-50% percent of its value. I am pretty Ok with boring looks of wagonR, if it gives me nice mileage,is easy to park, easy ingress and exit,High roof, repairs at low costs, and passes through reallytight corners..I am even ok with a smaller engineRead More

Dear franklin_rs, Thanks for your appreciation, I am glad that you liked the review. WagonR has one Big Plus in its favour ’Space’ and it has been packaged well. Meaning, both cars have same dimensions and alto is longer by 3cms..BUT Its the wagonR that wins it by having more space ON THE INSIDE( hav...ing longer Wheelbase of 2400mm vs 2360 of the alto) i.e better legroom /kneeroom for rear passengers In real life, I never really have to think twice before picking/dropping up someone from the airport + luggage(even if its once a year job) Or suppose the genset conks off and needs a repair, wagonr can engulfs everything you throw at it .Thats why its a MPV- Multi Purpose vehicle. The Big Height comes as a boon too.. I bet if you drive a tall boy for lets say 1000 odd kms, then you wud never again drive an alto/800/esteem for their low stance . I dont wish to offend anyone by writing this but its just my opinion that if the outer dimensiom remains same, there is nothing wrong in going for a car that is roomier inside unless ofcourse you dont like wagonR's looks .Regards.. hope that helps Pls. feel free to ask any further Qs Dr.GauravRead More

As far as power goes, it depends on how to define it. If you keep wagon R in the powerband i.e above 1500, its pickup would be like any other car, but in this particular engine below 1500rpm is a weak side, but still it can be forgiven for the mileage it would offer in return

Hi prabhaker, Wagon R will not eat on your pocket , coz the new model is targeted at mileage conscious buyers. Expect 14-15with A/C in bumper to bumper traffic,Budget 4.3 lakh for Vxi On road Delhi. (Wagon R has ARAI rating of 18.9kmpl).WagonR for driving comfort, mileage and overall practicality.... Even a Santro would be a nice choice but lesser mileage of 12kmpl Second Car that I would advise you is a i10kappa(i own i10kappa too), if you can afford initially 50-60K costlier car, it looks fresher, reburbished with VTVTtechnology, has a much better pickup and now has ARAI rated milege of 20.1kmpl vs 18.9kmpl of a wagonR. Do remember downsides of i10, Little comfort for drivers over long journeys, low sitting position, impractical boot and costlier After sales. In the city, one should only prefer maneuverable cars that are easy to sprint, park, and take turns. My recommendation Wagon R: for overall ownership experience over 6-7 yearsperiodRead More
