Maruti Suzuki SX4

Dear Vinod, In my review on SX4, I had said you should take the test drives of all the cars before you could make the decision. My parents own a Honda city (earlier version) and hence I was keen to test the current Honda city version. I agree the ground clearance was low. But the driving was smo...oth and the steering wheel handling, less vibration at higher speed and no hindrance with A pillar are positives of City in addition to its excellent mileage. I finally bought an SX4 and I am happy with it. But I should not give you a biased opinion about it. I felt SX4 is great with good pick up and muscular feeling and power. Most of the SX4 feedbacks given here could be true. But it does have its restrictions to compensate for the lower price. So test drive city twice atleast. Then test drive SX4. Then cross check your budget and then decide. Service from Honda dealers and Maruti dealers are on par. Not much of a difference. Read More

Just listen to 'Halke Se Bole' & 'Gumm Summ' from the new Hindi movie 'Paa'. A repeat attempt like 'Cheeni Kum' for Raja.This time he has used 'Putham Pudhu Kaalai' from Kaadhal Oviyum and 'Thumbi vaa' from Olangal for 'Halke se' and 'Gum summ'. Decades later, the lilting tunes pierce the heart righ...t away. There is always a bridge between him and the rest. The huge chasm in between. Either people would never cross it. Or would continue to live in the illusive world that Illayaraja is on the wrong side. Being a fan of western classical music and listening to compositions of Bach to Verdi to Schubert to Beethoven, I felt Illayaraja is highly talented and possess the composition skills of the western classical music and fine tuned to South Indian movies. I felt Hanna's role is not contradicting. If u recollect the 'tram' scene where in she is stunned on being appraised of a promotion. She later refuses the promotion. She is not behaving innocent during the trial. She justs behaves realistic. The movie does address the fact about that her abuses/be...havior with young Michael is a fall out of her own struggle within herself. Also the movie subtly addresses the emotional distance between them despite a thick physical closeness. If you had carefully observed the movie is all about conflicting emotions isn't it. Its what makes one feel the characters are contradicting.Read More

Hi Srini, Thanks for your review. I am contemplating of buying an SX4. My parents own a city and I love driving it. In SX4, the two factors I am worried about is the 'A' pillar on the right hand side and the mileage. Could you provide your frank opinion on the same.

Pathetic Product and Service
Nokia 3110 Classic

It is no surprise. Nokia is known for their cold attitude & irresponsible behavior when it comes to service. I use a Nokia 8800 & suddenly the key boards started misbehaving. I went to the service centre who said it needs a firmware update and asked me to come after a week. Later they called to say ...the mobile is not accepting the firmware. I was thoroughly confused as if Nokia service centre claim that their own product does not accept firmware update, what will a customer do. I also checked with few friends and colleagues and found that Nokia service is the worst. I heard people say that the service centre people declined repairing stating excuses like 'Motherboard malfunction, we could not do anything', 'Seems to be Virus issue which is not covered under warranty', etc. Read More
