Congrats on your new car ! I was a bit shocked to see a price tag of 8L for a hatch even though it is a diesel. Other than that, the I20 is without doubt, one of the better cars available today. I hope your car includes ABS & dual airbags for that price.

ishang, no offence, but your FE figures seem way too rosy. I do not get 12+ on my Santro (daily drive, sedate, 100% AC) in Chennai unless it includes a few late night or early morning trips when I'm mostly on 4th or 5th gear. The I20 is 300 kilos heavier than Santro which amounts to Santro + 4 ...adults + 1 kid and also has a 1.2 l engine. Besides, very few people report 11+ FE on I10 Kappa, which is lighter than the I20. The gearing could be different, but is highly unlikey to swing so much in favor of I20. Read More

Team bhp is a good site going by the content. Some moderators' actions are justifiable, some may not be. It is difficult to tell since people have their own experiences. But one thing is for sure, this is one forum that is loved & hated by a measure uncommon for online forums. There is another u...p & coming website www.gearheads.in. Many of the members there are / were from team-bhp. It seems good, I am a member in both bhp & GH. You could try it out as well.Read More

I knew there would be a lot of Team-BHP haters. After all, most of us Indians dislike rules. Team-BHP is a place that has rules, actually, lots of them. And they are implemented to the T. The result shows in itself. It is a great forum if you wish to know about passenger cars and trucks in the I...Read more

Santro Petrol is OK if you are a budget minded buyer. I got one last year. Gives me a FE of 10.5 - 13 in City traffic with 100% AC. Depends on where you drive & what time of day. I bought my car from DSC Chennai and they are no doubt lousy fellows.

I own a 2008 GLS. Gives me 11KMPL with AC on always. I dont believe you can get more than 12 or 13 max in city conditions with AC. If I drove on the busiest chennai roads during peak hours (I drive in Adyar-OMR), i am sure I will get no more than 10 KMPL. No offence, but you can get 22 in city only ...if you tow it for half the distance :-)Read More

I bought a Santro in April 08. Good looks, good pickup, decent performance even with 5 people and AC in full blast, nimble and agile..Be prepared for a mileage between 11 and 12 with use of AC (in my experience)..Overall, a much better value proposition than any car of its class inclusing i-10 (not ...exactly in Santro's league,, but..).many people compare with similar offerings from Maruti..One point I noticed is build quality in Santro is MUCH better than Maruti..just listen to the sound when you close the door in both Santro vs Maruti vehicles (below SWIFT)...go ahead and get one !Read More

I got my Santro in Apr 2008 after comparisons with i10 & Estilo. It has now done 4.5K kms, all in city. Here is my review and feedback on the car based on my experiences so far The good: Excellent car to drive in city, very nimble and responsive in lower gears. Requires less downshifting d...Read more

I had earlier posted  a question in this space (about collapsible steering for Estilo) and I promised to get back with a review. Well, here it is !! My car search started with a second hand M800. After some thought, I decided to go in for a new 800. When I learnt about the power steering (or ...Read more
