I think these guys are there for the heck of it. Gives them some joy to come around making you fill forms. Nothing comes out of it but they bug the hell out of you and even send a rep to wher you are at the moment just so that they can get their forms filled.

It baffles me too, the rejections when you have FDs, good credit standing etc. I discovered a few things in my short experience with credit card DSAa and what happens after. I have completely given up on going for cards other than what I own now, which apparently is just one card from an Indian bank....
Here is a gist of what to expect and what they expect.
Standard Chartered : Just forget them, I don't know a single soul who has a nice word for them. They will call you months on end after rejecting your application
SBI : Dodgy agents, rejections without reason, you will hear from them again and you will be 'guaranteed' a card if you apply again.
HSBC: If you hold another card they expect you to have 20% as available balance on your statement. IF you are short by 100 Rs. , no can do. I have heard their charges can be tricky.
ICICI : Their response initially is very poor, so why go for a service of that sort at all.
ABN-AMRO : Your office should sport the kind of look that says people don't lose their jobs (therefore income) easily. A lot of attn is paid to that.
HDFC : Surely the Rolls Royce in this list. Low credit limit to start with, fanatic customer service, no bill, delay probs etc. But I wouldn't know how it is to experience applying for a card with them, I will soon find out since I have applied for an additional card with them. My exisiting one was issued within 15 days after I received a 'pre approved card' call which I dismissed as non reality initially.

I guess it is very easy to get ignored and feel sh#@ , I know what exactly you would have felt. This did happen to me in one certain branch in Bangalore all the time but my branch in Chennai is excellent although my contact is very minimal. I would say all the branches of HDFC I have been to more th...an once are heavy traffic ones, I sometimes do wonder how the staff manage being nice so long and to that many people. Yet I would rate the one in Khar, Mumbai and my local branch in Chennai as very good experiences, my driver was standing behind me while I was seated talking to a staff at the desk and the manager passing by actually stopped to enquire if she could help him.Read More
