Wiz animation studio - the production house in Aligarh City, which deals with animation films and videos, shall now be going for a revamp with a new name from 28th December 2013. The Studio shall then be referred as ‘Wiz Motion Studio’. Reason behind this development is exploring new forms of digital space and filmmaking by its founders. Varun Mehta, a noted short filmmaker and director of several animated shorts is the man behind the force of ‘Wiz’.
The Studio was launched last year on June 30th. The first studio on Animation opened in the city focussed on Animation related projects. The Studio found success in their three animated shorts –‘The Unknown World’, ‘The Wonder Stone’ and a promo on an Indian TV series, which all won first prizes in International contests and festivals. This year, the studio generated three shorts again that won at multiple platforms. The most being notable is ‘The Art of Farming’ a short film that narrates a story of farmer as how he goes through daily hardships to ensure better farming.
The film was selected in top 6 finalists and won third prize at Alltech Farming Film Festival 2013. The other two shorts are ‘Bitcoin’ and ‘A Kid’s Nursery Rhyme’ both achieved 2nd and 1st places in multiple competitions. Founder of the studio, Varun said that “It was Important to revamp the studio as we now are exploring different mediums of entertainment. Animation’s scope in the city is very limited and It was Important to give other mediums a deserving chance.” The studio now plans to bring a short film on human trafficking. Also it will bring its first short film festival ‘Blossom’ in March 2014.
