Why a dishwasher can change the way you live?

By: audrickaudone | Posted May 04, 2014 | General | 173 Views

We have all had to face the torture of watching our dishes pile up in the sink, wondering when you can finally face the enemy. We have forever wished that the kitchen would look spotless with the wave of a wand. We wish to be a magician and hope that this recurring nightmare should not plague you again. Yet we Indians feel that unless we ‘get in there’ and do the dirty work, the dishes won’t be ‘clean’ enough or ‘shiny’ enough.

The Indian mindset is yet to acclimatize to the concept of mechanized washing of dishes. People are as hesitant about this appliance as they were when the pressure cooker or even the washing machine first rolled into the Indian market. We've stopped washing clothes by hand, haven’t we? So why do we still wash dishes this way?

The dishwasher is the answer to all your problems. It hits, all the right check boxes. It leaves the dishes clean and more hygienic, saves your valuable time and effort, enhances kitchen beauty and most importantly helps save water and energy. Loading and unloading dishes is all we need to do and we are free to pursue other activities while the dishwasher does the dishes quietly(So unlike our house-help.Isn't it.!).

Many of us do-not believe that a dishwasher is suited for Indian style of cooking & cleans all types of greasy foods and oils which we encounter in our Indian cooking. I can only say that we also did not believe when people told us that spinning clothes in water could clean them as effectively.

My family has been using a dishwasher since the past one year and I am perfectly happy with its performance. It holds and cleans kadhais, pots, pans, crockery and glassware easily and also dries the dishes. Hence, when the wash cycle is over, you get steam dried and cleaned dishes. The best part is that anybody in the family can do dishes now. All you need to do is just scrape the leftovers from the dishes and stack them in, the hot water & detergents take care of the rest. At times, you do need to soak the dishes before putting them into the dishwasher, but that’s only few exceptions.

Domestic help in India was cheap once upon a time, but it is increasingly expensive, difficult to find and highly unreliable these days. Most of the households in Europe and America consider a dishwasher a necessity. It is indeed a smarter, reliable and a greener option. It is only a matter of time we Indians will need to or be forced to change our mindsets.
