Whirlpool doubel door refrigerator PRO 495 ELT 2S(480 Ltr) - Terrible model

I had bought a double door fridge PRO 495 ELT 2S(480 Ltr) from Whirlpool in April 2016. . It is supposed to be a high end machine with various outstanding features. Unfortunately, from day 1 water kept condensing from below the freezer door. we thought that it would settle down by tweaking the temperature control and we tried for a couple of months but the water actually started creating a puddle on the floor. Besides milk, coconut, jams started getting spoilt in a day or two.


We contacted the toll free number and they sent a technician from the local service centre in Belgaum. He came, cursorily checked the fridge and pronounced a judgement that nothing was wrong and that this happens in all these fridges during monsoons. Not satisfied, we gain lodged a complaint and insisted on a senior technician being sent.


He came checked the fridge and said that the doors had to be repositioned by placing washers. After 3 days he came and did the same. Neither the water dripping ended nor the spoiling of food material.


After yet another complaint, he came with a digital thermometer and said that the temperatures were not low enough and that is why the food was decomposing easily and he would send the thermometer readings to Bangalore. Another week passed and upon enquiry the local service centre said that they had no reply from their Bangalore office.


Finally I could get a contact number of an area manager Mr.Reddy from Bangalore who was kind enough to listen and understand. He said that he would look into the matter and get back to me. True to his word, he got back saying that he would replace the piece.


I waited and waited for 6 weeks. Finally after numerous promptings, I was told by the local service centre that I would have to deposit the defective at the service centre and they would check the unit and sometime later they would send the new fridge, maybe after a few days. I asked them what should I be doing with the foodstuff that would get spoilt in this time without any fridge. They stuck to their line.


I contacted Mr.Reddy again and asked him. He said that he had done me a favour by sending a new piece without taking back the old one all the way from the factory and I would have to deposit the old fridge at the service centre and take away the new fridge as it has already arrived. I told him if it was the cost of transportation charges from the local service centre to my home, I would be willing to bear it. He too stuck to his guns.


I have never seen such callous behaviour - it is 6 months since I am suffering with a defective piece and Whirlpool has such high handed behaviour witH no consideration for a consumer in anguish.


PLEASE DO NOT BUY WHIRLPOOL PRODUCT AS THEIR QUALITY CHECK MUST BE TERRIBLE FOR ME TO HAVE RECEIVED A DEFECTIVE PIECE AND AFTER SALES SERVICE IS JUST TERRIBLE
