Visited BR hills and Bandipur recently. I was terribly putt off when I saw people feeding monkeys (especially the Bonnet Macaque) and surprisingly the Nilgiri Langurs (which are naturally shy animals). Not only have the monkeys become aggressive (we had to constantly be alert ), they are totally dependant on humans for food and in turn the eco system is completely turned upside down.
Langurs usually give alarm calls ( when they spot Big cats or snakes) in the forest warning other langurs and animals of the danger. Its also good for the people going on safaris as it is easier to spot cats. This time there were absolutely no alarm calls as all the monkeys and langurs were busy on the road eating food offered by generous people.
I seriously think the forest department should take some action like they do in Singapore ( a fine of 250 $ for feeding monkeys - check out this website -----https://wildsingapore.com/places/monkey.htm or in some parts of Africa where they say " If you feed the monkeys ..we kill them" -as they become aggressive and have to be shot anyways.
