The US Presidential race seems to be hotting up for sure. And with every passing day, Hilary Clinton seems to be shooting herself in the foot. I think it is out of desperation, because for all her faults, I cant blame Ms.Clintonfor being dumb and ignorant. No on the contrary she is knowledgable and smart enough. What else explains her latest astounding statement about Obama having terrorist links just because he sported a turban? Having appointed herself as the self appointed messiah of the Indian community in US, I thought Ms. Clinton, would be sensible enough to know that not all turban wearers are terrorists. If she deems that a strategy to beat Obama, well either she thinks she is too smart, or she must be frigging dumb and her intelligence totally overrated.
Speaking about the Right, I have been reading some posts and articles from the Indian right by the usual suspects Rajeev Srinivasan, Swapan Dasgupta and co. And as usual they continue to astound me with their sheer naivete and stupidity. In general, I am quite right of center in my views, but on reason why I never support the likes of Mr.Srinivasan or Dasgupta, is that they most of their articles, they tend to keep beating around the bush. I was reading Rajeev's article on Obama, and it contained the same old rants, about he could be sympathetic to terrorists because he is from Islamic background, blah, blah. Honestly I am sick and tired of reading these anti Islamic rants, they are getting a bit boring. Can we have a better perspective please? Anyway as of now Obama seems to be the favorite for Democratic nomination. And yeah please can we put an end to the Obama-Osama nonsense. And please do read his profile on Wikipedia. Nowhere is there an indication of him being soft on terror.
Also some how I really cringe the way we get so worked up over outsourcing issues. Let us face it guys, we cant be eternally dependent on Uncle Sam for the goodies. High time we started to look beyond that. And yeah dont worry neither Ms.Clinton nor Mr.Obama is going to stop outsourcing. Whether it is Democrat or Republican, neither can afford to antagonize Big Business, so that means outsourcing will continue. The only real concern, is how long are we going to keep eating the crumbs. Let us not live in a fools paradise. To date Uncle Sam has been dishing out the goodies to us, just because of cost factor. But of late, Uncle ji has discovered that his nephews/nieces in Phillipines and Vietnam, can also speak English well, and dont demand as much as his Indian nephews do. So it is like Uncle Sam is gonna distribute the goodies, only this time, other nations like Phillipines, Vietnam, Romania will also be getting a good share.
So where does that leave India? Well lets put it this way, Big Business right now loves India, rather it is the latest market for them. And Republicans love Big Business, so what is good for Big Business is good for Reps. And Democrats always love to play the knight in the shining armor, and Ms. Clinton is especially eager to get herself annointed as the patron saint of the Indian community in the US, and while Obama has no intentions for knighthood or sainthood, he is eager to court the Indian community also. So whether it is Mc Cain, Obama or Clinton, neither of them will want to antagonize India, so it is good for us in all ways. Yeah if Nancy Peloksi nee Peski, had made it, maybe it would have been a bother, but the Dems for all their liberal banter, would not allow such a candidate, whose policy statement sounds suspiciously close to Marx's communist manifesto. So all in all its a win win game for India. Keep watching this space for more updates.
