The first time I ate “Mishty Dahi” was 25 Years ago at Calcutta, on my way to Darjeeling. I had stopped at my relative staying in Calcutta and in the morning he took me through Calcutta’s street to some small hotel; telling me he is offering me some sweet delicacy called “Misty Dahi (Dohi)”. The prospect of eating sweet curd in the morning, for breakfast, didn’t exactly please me. In the small shop he took me to, about 10-15 Bengalis were eating only “Mishty Dahi”, a few others “Rasgullas”. No trace of Vada / Idli Sambhar, Upma, Wada Pav & Samosas. No cutting or full chai or coffee.

We too ordered “Mishty Dahi” in Matka Pot. The first spoonful had a divine taste and it lasted through to last spoonful. I never thought “Mishty Dahi” would taste that good.

Back in Mumbai I located very few shops who sold “Mishty Dahi”, but it was not upto standard and finally I gave-up.

Finally, a few days ago one of my relatives directed me to “Sweet Bengal” a shop located near to Kohinoor Cinema on Lady Jamshetjee Road, Mumbai. I purchased ½ Kg. “Mishty Dahi” for Rs. 104/- packed in Matka, and re-lived the experience of genuine Mishty Dahi”. Those fond of this “Mishty Dahi” can have it from there. They have many varieties of Bengally sweets which look tempting but I have not tasted them. Somebody after eating may enlighten others on the same.
