Hello and Welcome to yet again another edition of -The 'Why' Bug Series!

This time around, I am going to be answering a few questions asked my dear readers besides giving you some more information!

Direction in life plays a very vital role. Direction of the main house door, the kitchen corner, the way we sleep etc etc. Oh no... I am no vaastu expert.

Maitaining directions is considered to be so important that even Gods are not left alone...hehehe..just kidding!

On a serious note, I wondered why direction mattered so much. The 'Why' Bug bit and I peeked into my reasoning faculty of gray matter!

There is a direction in which we should not place our heads in. That is the North.

  1. Mythological reason- The story of Lord Ganesha gets his head. After the cutting of Ganesha's head, Shiva realises that he is his own son. Then orders his men to get the head of any living being whose head is placed in the North. On the earth they find that an elephant is sleeping in the north direction and hence, they cut its head off and Lord Ganesh gets a head and is alive again.

[Please do not ask me questions like, why did he not attach the head that was cut off...this is the story that I have heard from my Mom and my aunts. This the same story that is told to kids year after year. Its myth-ology]

  1. Scientific reason- At the north and the south directions on the earth, we have the poles.

These poles have magnetic energy that is constantly flowing across the globe.

We in our blood have iron contents[ not fillings...no..not the iron man, no comedy..serious matter, ok now read ahead].

So those iron particles have a tendency to react with the magnetic field and hence the blood circulation may be hampered while we are asleep as there is a pull from both the ends.

Sacred establishments---

Gods in the places of worship are all kept in the East, as in the Facing the west and in the direction of East [Rising Sun!].

Reason-

Religious- The rising of the Sun and rising of the day is considered to be the dawn of new hope. Hope is associated with God and sunrays is related to positive energy!

Hence, we see God and Sun as hope and faith.

The Chinese theory by Feng Shui also reinstates the same thing and so God's idol is placed facing west, their back towards the rising sun.

It is the case in Gurdwara and the temples.

Hope this effort of mine has been worthwhile.

Please aid these editions by giving your valuable feedback!

Thanks for the patient reading!
