TO DRIVE AWAY …………..(A POEM)
To drive away to nowhere,
That never never land
Existing only in your dreams
Is delectable for a while
When you are in a mood for
Fairy tales, soft flowing streams
Meandering through the corridors
Of imagination, a weak red sun
Turning pictures softer pink,
Easy to view and restful!
There the rivers are placid,
Winds gentler than sheep,
And sheep don’t bleat to disturb;
Trees are multi-foliate with limbs
Inviting you to rest forever in bliss.
Flowers assume the colors you like
And shapes to suit your drifting mood,
Birds sing love songs that only you hear
With your inner ear romancing your soul
In tune with the rise and fall of your breath!
Such Shangrilas exist to give you respite
Even if briefly when torments with toils
Of struggling with contentious issues
Weaken your links with beauty and spirit --
Utopias of your creation unattainable
Unless you know to switch off awhile
The cares and turmoil of this frenzied life
To perceive with your poetic soul
The grandeur of a world of spirits
That sing your wearied soul to a Heaven!
