Long long ago, in the land of Lipey, lived a great King called Fergal. who was Brave, Intelligent and Good Man. He had a huge empire and his subjects loved him for his wise administration. King Fergal loved to be entertained and every month, he would gather, all his ambassadors, ministers and allow his subjects to come and display their talent in front of him and entertain him. The person, who managed to make him ‘Happiest’ would be given a 100 gram Gold Coin, as his Reward.

So every month on the chosen day, there would be crowds of people gathered at the gates of his palace, waiting to participate in the King’s Court of Entertainment. (Something likes our Indian Channel “Entertainment Ke Liye, Kuch be Karenga”). On this day, there would be a Fair organized for the people and lots of decorations in and around the palace.

One day, (in the month of July), as usual, King Fergal, sat on his throne with his beautiful wife beside him and all his ministers and generals sitting happily on their cushioned silver seats and the Entertainment Ceremony began.

The guards would call out the name of the contestants and each would come, in their turn, to display their talent in front of the great King and aspire to win the 100 grams of Gold. First came the talented musicians one by one, who would play on their organs, the latest songs of that month.

Then came, the artists, who would display their latest products which they had invented. It would be a whistle or a puppet or a fancy garment.

Then came, the scholars, who would narrate, wonderful quotations which they had written about.

Then came, the dancers, who would dance in the most beautiful costumes enacting little skits, for the king’s pleasure.

Then came, the great warriors, who would have games of sword fights and display their strength and power to the great King.

Then came, the great poets, who would recite, their verses of love and fantasy, in honor of the king.

After nearly 3 hours of entertainment, when all the Artists had performed their show, in front of the king, the guard suddenly announced that there was one more Contestant. Everybody looked towards the Darbar door, waiting to see who the last contestant was. And in came a little Clown called ‘Jester’. With a bright red colored costume, a funny cap, and lots of funny makeup, the clown entered the Hall, doing a little “Jig”…..and immediately everyone in the darbar laughed out loud (something like our Internet LOL).

Then the little clown, stood in front of the King and Queen and bowed to salute them. The King was surprised at what this little clown would do, that would please him. So he asked him “Hey Little Jester, from which part of my kingdom, do you come from ?”. The little Clown, smiled and answered “Oh Great King !, I have come from a far away land, seven seas I crossed to reach your mighty kingdom, only to see you and perform for you”. “Oh !!”, said the King, “Why little clown, why did you cross seven seas to visit my kingdom?”. The clown smiled sweetly and exclaimed “Oh Mighty King, I have heard of your Wisdom and Generosity and how Brave you are and how Good you are, to your people and I desperately wanted to see you and display my honor and admiration for you.”. “Oh !!”, said King Fergal, “Is it So, that I am admired even beyond the Seven Seas ?”. “Yes, your Honor”, replied the little Clown Jester, “Everyone speaks highly about you and you are famous and know for your Wisdom and Intelligence and your Kindness to your subjects”.
